How much are you guys seeing your rankings tied to domain authority after the last update?

The reason I'm asking is my start-up's site (4 month old domain) has been getting some high-powered links from the government and media and I'm wondering how much this would matter with organic search in our post-AI update world.

Your domain is really to new to gain anything from it.

Seemingly there's more emphasis on authority, but as mentioned above, your site is too new to be considered authorative. However, it will benefit in the longrun if you stick it out.

If your goal is to improve your website's ranking, you should focus on creating high-quality contents and getting backlinks on high authority sites. While Domain Authority (DA) is not a direct ranking factor and does not impact in SERP moments, but it is a good way to figure out how good a website quality is.

Does it really matters ? Do you think Google follows DR metrics of a third party website ?
Here the main part is getting traffic, DR is just a metric and should be treated as a metric to compare with the sites you are competing with

If the links you are getting natural and related to your niche then yes you will soon be getting some good results.

No spam. Like PDF links or unrelated comments in the gov, edu domains. (If the links are what I mentioned, I am skeptical about the future). (just my personal opinion)

No spam, we work with two government agencies but have done zero link-building.

The point of the 3rd party service is to estimate one of Google's ranking factors, not be the ranking factor. I also understand that all competition is relative. The dialog is around how much it even matters after the update. Maybe it's all about page authority or something else now.

Yeah, I expect it to take time (over a year). I'm only wondering how much it even matters now after the update.

Those ratings are piece of garbage these days.

Powerful gov links, sure they matter. But DR is more relative, you'll probably be able to outrank higher DR's than yours with these links if you add relevant clusters. This update should be in your favor.

DA and a lot of metrics can be inflated without much benefit. For me, the rep of the referring domain along with traffic are key.

DA doesn't matter much and it is easily manipulated these days. Gaining natural links for the 4 month old site is great. Just keep going and be patient.

By your domain anyone can find out about your website quality. It doesn't put much impact on your Website ranking. For rank a website you have to focus on content quality, high quality backlinks.

Domain Authority still matters much, in fact a huge number of sites taking over the SERPs are established sites with good authority.

For your site, those links would eventually pay off on thr future assuming they're quality links not those garbage .gov links people sell all over the place. By the way, a 4 month old site is still young. Unless you have zero or very weak competition, you have to wait and keep working.

Your site is growing good with good DA in less than 4 months. Great work. But Da is the less important metric comparatively so consider other metrics too.
