As annoying as it might be, some people really do get paid to wear great clothes, drive fast cars, and go on vacation. Now is the age of the professional influencer, and Instagram is making some of them a packet. A new study by HopperHQ sheds light on just how much brands are willing to pay top influencers for Instagram posts.

But they don't really get a million dollars a post, right?

Wrong!

Some of the most well-known, filthy rich celebrities do. That million bucks can be easy to earn too - as simple in many cases as a photo session holding a product and looking cute.

Are Huge Influencer Pay Rates Justifiable?

Brands do their research. In order to get the big bucks, celebrities have to carry enough clout to make the deal worth it. As crazy as it might seem, some influencers have the ability to yield massive ROI. Hopper based their findings on the account engagement of influencers in a range of categories and information gained from the individuals themselves.

I would take these price quotes with a grain of salt. It really depends on the audience and the brand involved.

Even if they are a bit of a stretch, the prices are easily justifiable.

a lot of eyeballs = money. It's always been that way. Since the inception of magazines.

I never believe to what I read on such blogs. You never know who edited those and why they wrote what they wrote

Based on one of Kylie Jenner's product post which received 4.8 million views, and assuming you paid the 1.2 million, you'd end up with a $263 CPM. These seem more like celebrity endorsement rates rather than "influencer shoutout" prices imo. If it really is, I'm assuming large brands with large "branding budgets" are willing to pay.

I highly doubt 1 post for that price is going to net any positive ROI, unless it goes viral, which would just be a gamble - even if the company can afford to take the loss.

I have friends that go crazy whenever their top influencer post a new product or merch. Let's say at least 1% of those 4.8 million converts and buys a product of 50$. That's already 2.400.000$!!

That could be true since their influence could be that strong. Kylie Jenner's net worth is valued at 1 billion from her makeup line, but I think mainly because her name/brand is heavily attached to it, and she pushes it pretty heavily on ig and other platforms as well.

I've done a few shutouts with mixed results, but the most I was willing to pay was $15 CPM. I'm building a platform for this over the next few weeks so maybe I'll post a case study.

How much do smaller influencers with <5-k followers get if anything ?
Of course they do. At least some, with good engagement and if they're the good choice for the brand.

They're micro-influencers. And the price really depends. Could be $30, could be $60, $100 or more.

Depends where you find them. Younger girls just starting out on insta are where you can get the most bang for your buck.

I recently paid $15 for a shoutout with a page that has over 30K followers.

Young girl in her 20s. 12% Engagement.

It’s all about where you look.

Thanks for the answers! It’s very interesting to me how even micro-influencers are able to make money through this.

I agree it's more of a brand awareness, like super bowl commercials. Otherwise, no one would really buy something tangible off the celebrity post -- niche too broad.

Don't blindly trust those numbers for celebrity accounts, usually all those platforms just use approximate numbers, so they get quotes from 10 accounts and then extrapolate it to bigger numbers which doesn't make sense in most cases.

You'd be surprised. The guy who organized Fyre Fest some years ago used Influencer models to promote it. The festival's tickets immediately sold out.
It all depends on your offer and the type of audience you're looking to reach.

For professional Influencers the rate range is:
<5K $250 per post
<25K $500 per post
25K-50K $750-1,000 per post
50K-100K $1,500 per post
>150K $2,500 per post

These are the base minimums. Most will get $500 to $1,000 over those rates.
These are not your gone in X hour posts. We’re talking professionals. Not mommy blogger on the side, or take crappy shots with a flip-phone influencers.

It should be used as an integrated strategy. X IG influencer endorsed us, then I'd screen cap it and post it on the other social channels as brand confirmation that it's legit. It's all about brand building for differentiating your product.

I've hired thousands of influencers for myself and for clients for way less than this. You have to have good software to find them.

Yes, you can find the non professionals for less. That’s why I wrote professional influencers.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some non-professionals that provide good work for less. But they’re not the typical type.

It’s like finding a dentist that charges $50 for pulling teeth. Most are not good, but 1 out of 20 will do a fine job. It’s up to you to find the good one.

Is this price table product of your experience or does it belongs to one of the top influencers market site?
