How much do i have to wait to start backlinking?

Hey guys, i just made a website with original and informative content, probably this site is just 1 week old, i use a social service to bookmark one of the internal pages that i have for this site but none of the keywords that i try to rank for is ranking!!!! will i have problems to do this early?? or do i have to wait to see improvements?? what can i do, because socialbookmarks had been very powerful to me in the past but this time im not seeing any results.

Start building a variety of backlinks to your inner pages... using just one kind of backlink is not in your best interest long term.
 
There is no right or wrong method in backlinking. The only thing is that some methods are consistently working well with Google. If your site is already indexed don't bother with bookmarking because those aren't quality links.

What you need to concentrate is for quality links. You need to find high pr pages which aren't spammed and leave links there. These links will do a lot more good than any bookmarking link can ever do.
 
You can try a press release service like pitch engine, theres a monthly fee but they usually index within 30min and you can post unlimited press releases from there, but once your subscription runs out they take down all your press releases. Not saying this is a good long term solution but if youre looking for a quick boost its never let me down.

Actually i used bookmarks in a 3 month old site, and i went from position #74 to position #10, so i dont think that socialbookmarks are low quality... i think the problem here is that my site is very new..

I think i will build links from articles for this particular inner page... and im just going to be patient to see if this will work
 
completely depends on what you are trying to do. Some people say you can blast the hell out of a site at first then run a daily feed, others think you should wait. Good bookmarking to start isn't bad, and a couple articles to top places like ezine work well. From there, blast away. Just build a decent base slowly, or buy a package so all links are diverse.
 
Build backlinks immediately. That's what I did. I see no issues with that, personally.
 
How long to wait for backlinks? On a new site I wait for the page that I want to backlink to be indexed. On an existing site with a new page, I only wait as long as it takes to sign into linkpushing. Also the new post will publish to Twitter when I hit publish.
 
I find for newer sites its best to do some authority links (50-100), like web2.0 profiles, or even some unique articles with single links pointing back (use a varity of related keywords to help diversify the footprint) then I back link the crap out of those links and I have had some good results.
