There was a field test from a television show where they sent one reporter to pretend he 's homeless for a day and filmed it. He was not supposed to talk, he just had a sign and sat there. After they finished this, they asked on air the reported about the experience and he said he was seriously considering changing career.

a lot of them aren't actually homeless! Since i moved to Uni in Birmingham, I have seen loaaads of them, and the amount of people I see giving them quids here and there, is unreal!

My dad told me a story when I was a kid. When he first moved to America, New York to be exact, he knew this one guy. His job was to be a begger on the street.
He wouldn't shave, and he would drive to the best streets, park his car somewhere, and walk to the intersections with a sign.
My dad told me he bought this new car, and he would tear up his clothes on purpose and stuff..
Some beggars on the street are better off than people working at mcdonalds.

I once saw this doc on Discovery about heroin addicts , and one junkie knew a place where he could easily earn around 100 $ in one hour . Funny thing was that he immediately spend all the cash on his shot. But imagine if he wouldn't and saved all the money ...
So yeah , a lot of them are fakes I guess and a lot of them make good money

I agree with the posts above, if you pick the right spot, on a main street you could make a LOT of money begging. A lot of the people who sell the Big Issue arent actually homeless, they go back to their bedsits and hostels at the end of a hard day.
Maybe I should start selling the Big Issue hehe

Big issue is sold by homeless people in the UK , The guy behind that magazine makes millions each year getting homeless people to sell it for him.
