How many words per day can someone write?

this isnt even a question you can ask. its like saying "how far can you run in a day?" and then try and think logically about it.

outsource per article, its much easier. Or you could just spin content if its not for a money site

sit down, write articles for 8 hours and count the words afterwards

Solid method. However to speed thing up you may want to write for 30 minutes and then count the words (times 16) will give you an answer.

I think that should be do-able by a full time writer.

10 articles x 500 words... yeah... :)

I used to write 5x 300 word articles in an hour, and 10,000+ word days were not uncommon if I worked hard. (Yes, I kept track.) A few months ago I had a writer who used to write 10,000-20,000 words per day every day. She was kind of expensive. Asking for 5,000 from one writer is reasonable.

Well, if you can type at 50 WPM, then you can write a 500 word article in 10 minutes, give or take. On that reasoning, you could write 2500 words per hour (allowing a ten minute break), and then 20k in 8 hours. Of course you would need a constant supply of material to write about continuously, and I somehow doubt just anyone could realisticly achieve it.

50 WPM is only about average though, some people can type a lot faster.

It depends on the typing speed and the analyzing skills of the writer.I hope 20-24k words per 8hours if he can type above 50wpm.

To explain a little more, Im hiring someone full time to do this. He also has to be able to post all the written stuff in Wordpress with some images and bold the keywords, etc. Put the tags and categories for each article. Maybe that will not take that much time, but still overall I was thinking 5K words and using Wordpress to post the articles. Some people say 20.000 words but I dont want to stress that much my the content maker so he could stay for me a long term.

Yeap I think 20K would be a lot for a person to do it constantly everyday. Also he needs to use wordpress to post the articles so that would take time.

Another 20K answer, I wonder if this is possible, but he has to be able to do it everyday excluding sundays and also using wordpress to post everything with images. So that could take time.

Well, I've seen people on Freelance sites offering 80 WPM, so they'd be able to do it faster...It's definitely possible, but you'd have to find someone with the skills and who is committed. Another thing to remember is that it depends on the content they are typing. That can drastically affect speed, but if its just plain English words, that shouldnt be a problem.

I'd also choose per article instead.

I got a writer that does an article for $4.5 for 500-550 words. Proper, well-structured english even though it's not her mother tongue. Personally, I think that's cheap as it's researched.

That would cost me $45 per day (5000 words) and if it works 22 days a month $990 per month. I dont have that amount right now to invest. As I said there are blog posts, no research needed, I will give him all the tools and articles to write about. Some has to be rewritten other stuff will be describing products, so he sees an image and starts describing it the colors, dimensions how it looks, etc. Nothing complex and doesnt need to be english native, just to write well.

But maybe I could invest in some $5 per 500 words keyword researched and SEO optimized to combine it with the work done by the writer.

I will look at freelancer.com, another page recommended for finding a person like this?

I am an amateur article writer and I do about 2700 words per hour. So give or take, that amounts to about 21500 words per 8 hours. In between, I take breaks to ease the eyes and soothe the nerves, and then I work on the writing stuff again. Been doing so for a while and over a year of work or so, have managed to narrow it down to two things that determine the speed of article.
1. Speed of typing or reading( in case you use Dragon)
2. If research is required or not?

I work for nearly 10 hours per working day and make about 80$ per day. So I can't complain.:D

If you are going to be needing that many keywords I would suggest you go with a company rather than an individual writer.

First of all, NEVER hire a writer who you will be paying per working hours, because that never goes well. I started like this and it is really annoying when your writer has a bad day and writes like he is in kindergarten - and you still have to pay him because you are paying per hour, and not per work done.

As of the maximum, there will be people stating that they can write up to 25 articles per day - but they can't, they just found a few more buddies and will write it together. A "healthy" per day number is around 15x500 words articles, all over that is plain shit.

And also, you should find one writer for the "no-brain" job like writing random SEO articles which need bullshiting and filling, and a "I-use-my-brain" job for linkbait content where the writer has to spend some time researching it.

In the beginning I wanted less writers and more articles, today I want more writers and less articles. I would rather see my writer write 10 articles par day which are GREAT, then bullshiting his way out with 20 articles per day.

Thanks you, I will try to do this and hire more writers when needed. I will pay then 5.000 words per day of work (usually 8 hours), not in hours. So if he can do 5.000 in 8 hours I will pay him the same if he does it on 4 hours, he will we more motivated to finish the task so he can be paid. I have installed plugins in Wordpress to check this and to check how much words a writers has done per day and per post. Also some posts are really simple just describing products or rewriting description of Amazon products, no hard research needed.
