How many real time visitors can they handle?

Difficult to say. But a critical aspect is how well-optimized the website is. If there are 100 plugins installed and a big 10Mb hero slider, it's not good.

It will also depend on the activity rate of those visitors, it would depend on what kind of plugins, and how your site is also hosted.
Are you running a docker, or just a wp lite, or standard wp.
how many crons or scripts you running in the background, do you have any offload servers or cdns in place to mitigate load?

Standard WP affiliate site. No slider stuff.
Plugins like wordfence, loginizer, blocks, sitekit, table, contact form, free cloudflare plugin etc.
Images are .webp format and max there are 2 images per post. The site has like 40 articles.

wordfence is resource extensive, and so are "tables" depending on which ones you use.
so is contact form (you would need to optimize that so it doesn't load every page unless you have a contact box at the bottom
define "standard" wp affiliate site
base Theme you use to build is also important too, some are bloated, others ain't as much.
Honestly, it varies so much, when I had one site loaded in DO, after about ~50 or so concurrent visitors that was heavily browsing, it would start to be laggy as fuck and the database would crash.
Then again, my site was alot bigger than 40 articles and was picture heavy too.
Your best bet would be load up a droplet, and stress test it and delete it.
The cost would be only the time you had the droplet so not even $5 a month, or if you never used DO before, just use their free trial (or the ones who are selling in the BHW MP) and you can easily scale between the difference droplets to see what benefits you the most.
