There isn’t a set amount time it takes to learn a skill. Everyone is different and learns at different paces, so it’s ultimately up to you and how committed you are to actually learning.

That depends on the kind of video editing you're willing to learn. Basic YT videos editing, you'll get a hang of any software within 1 month. For advanced and professional level editing you need to keep learning, no fixed time frame but you'd definitely need 1+ year of consistent on the job learning to become an expert.

That entirely depends on two things:
  1. The level of editing you want to learn
  2. The software you will use
For basic editing, you can watch YouTube tutorials to gain essential skills within a week.

Quick Tip: Start with one editing software, and stick to it until you learn the basics of video editing. If you keep switching between tools in your learning phase, you'll definitely get confused and lose motivation.

Thank you , I think in first month i am only able to learn about its tools but in a second month I am able to use tools to

do editing for YT video , Then with time became a pro in it :)

As a video editor myself, it took me about a month to learn the basics. Then in order for me to become advanced, I had to keep working on different projects, and whenever I come across something I'd want to learn. I'd search youtube in order to learn how to do it then I would use what I learn in my videos. Do this for a year consistently and you will get to the advanced level in video editing.

every person is different

Depends on how strong your logic is

A person with high level logic will learn software, that just requires click-test-learn ... WAY FASTER than a person who's more of a literary learner *(has to read)*

But for me, the general rule of thumb is just jump in and try. You'll figure it out faster that way than trying to create some complicated process of bulleted guides 1a, 2a, 3a .. etc

But that's just me.

I learned the basics of every video editor I tried within 1 day.

It definitely depends. If you want to do simple videos editing, like adding texts, some effects and stuff, it could be quick, like 2-3 weeks. If you're about doing the kind of film editing it could take 2+ years, I believe. You don't only need special technical knowledge but filming techniques as well as scenario structure.

In my opinion, for basic video editing skill, it may take a few week to a couple of month of consistent practice and learning. so, it depend on your knowledge.

Normally, you can follow the tutorial to be able to make videos of decent quality within a month. But that's the only level you can reach. If you want to go deeper, there's no end to learning.

Start with free tools like CapCut or iMovie, then move to DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premiere Pro.
Learn basics on YouTube tutorials, then practice by editing short clips daily.

You just need to download a video editing software, then find some video and image materials and try to turn them into a polished video. After that, you can start taking on small projects where clients provide the raw footage and you deliver the final video. Once you’ve done that, you’ve already made your first step. From there, it’s all about learning different techniques.

It depends on how much time you spend daily, but basics can be learned in 2–3 weeks.

You can start learning from YouTube videos itself. No need to pay anyone for this.

You'll learn it in about three days... and spend the rest of your life figuring out which keyframe did that to your audio.

u can master the basics in a week with yt tutorials and capcut, but the real money is in learning high retention styles for ads

You can totally get the basics down in like two weeks if you just binge some yt tutorials and start practicing with capcut. Just jump straight into editing your own clips because that’s the fastest way to get the hang of it while keeping your engagement high

To begin editing videos, first choose a suitable editing program such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or a free option like DaVinci Resolve. Then, look for online tutorials to familiarize yourself with the basic tools and techniques. Practice editing your own videos, experiment with different styles, and as you progress, seek feedback to improve your skills.

It depends on how much time you spend daily, but you can get basic skills in a few weeks with consistent practice. Start with beginner friendly software like DaVinci Resolve or CapCut and follow tutorials online. Once you practice regularly, more advanced editing becomes easier over time.
