I used to do a lot of SEO in Google, and then got pissed off with all the algo updates, and more ads being added to page one. Last time I ranked was about 2 years, it used to take a low competition page about 2 days to index, and about a week to a month to hit page 1-2.

It also used to take about 13 days to get a result from links built and indexed, u would see the result on your web page in about 13 days.

How long to rank a similar page today guys?

As quickly as you want lol
So I sort gave an idea how long it took back in 2022, on a simple page, does know one even have an answer today for a simple page, or is SEO in Google even worth it now.

I see the same crappy services in the marketplace, the same services that were there from 2 years ago, has Google SEO just stagnated??

You're not going to be happy knowing that there has been an update once per month for the last 3 months.

Indexing is weird right now. Some people are having issues and some people are not. There are plenty of threads that discuss current indexing techniques.

It depends on several factors:

- competition level.
- age of your domain, content quality.
- backlink profile, diversity, etc.

There's more to it obviously, but that's the gist. There is no set timeframe to rank.

Update once a month, shit it used to be maybe 3 times a year back then. I bet that's tough.
And as for indexing, that's just about the time I left SEO.

I found SEO turned into bit of a depressing time, trying to get websites to rank almost impossible unless u had a huge budget.

Would I go back into SEO, no is the answer, I did it for about 4 yrs and it left me with depressing memories.

So I guess things have generally got harder.

They've "acknowledged" the indexing issues and are apparently deploying some sort of fix. However, we'll see how it goes.

Indexing is...problematic but not impossible. I haven't had too many issues at all really.

Sometimes, you've gotta know when to back away from a domain/project.

I see it as a challenge between myself & Google and I can be fairly competitive.

If you ever decide to get back in the SEO game, BHW is always here with working information.

BHW is a good site for info, maybe it should be renamed as blackhatgoogle etc, cause that's what's it really about.

When I left I found there were quicker ways to make the money. Used to love doing SEO.

SEO to me isn't about money now. It's about passive income over time.

Additionally, those websites that you've built passive income become assets that you can sell & reinvest the sale into a new project or savings.

Don't the indexing tools work? Or is it a hit and miss with those too?

For me is a bit longer...42 days 3 hours 44 minutes and 18 seconds.
The reason I'm asking is because I was fairly good on ranking pages, and knew that most subjects I could find easy keywords and design of pages, that when I indexed them, they would hit pages 1-3 on first index, and then with just a few decent back links, and normally within a month, they would be on page 1, great for niche sites.

Anything that hit pages 4+ on first index I wouldn't bother with as they proved too hard.

I even wrote a piece of software to do this on auto.

Doesn't take long if your SEO is perfect.
But the key is to have hope and patience.
Just keep watching it will rank sooner or later.
Don't give up as there are exceptions sometimes where takes X months.

Definitely longer than old days, even the low competition keywords with relevant articles takes 3 months to get better traffic and on to page 1. Its better to do all the work and wait for google to decide.

Just done a client in 30 days, which was 181 organic traffic and 9 keywords in top 100 and now ranking for 340 top 3 keywords and over 101k monthly organic traffic.

That's what I'm talking about, so still can be done in a month, thanks misterf.

Thought I would give an update on this.

Purchased a domain at the beginning of August, threw some crappy rankerx links at it, none of them indexed, starting building some pbn links which I searched for myself, paid just the registration fee, add the pbn's, just 3 weeks back, and today, first keyword hits page 1, in position 9.

So as misterF says, and not much has changed, 4 weeks to rank and brand new website.

yea you can rank a brand new domain in a few weeks. depends on the niche though, obviously some niches/keywords are harder as we all know.
with expired domains you can rank even faster sometimes.
