How lonely are you?

Since most of us are Internet marketers, I am assuming loneliness is a by-product. At least, this was my case for nearly 7-8 years. What changed?

I started running, taking part in marathons, joined a running academy. Basically, I am an active or semi-active runner these days.

Back in the days, I was a gym-rat. But, it didn't do any good to my social life. But, running changed the stakes for me. It helped me make new friends, chat with like-minded people, gave opportunity to celebrate with them when we completed our first half-marathon together, and gave me many opportunities to be more socially active. Like, I was invited to their house for functions, etc.

Tomorrow, I will be doing shoe-shopping with one of my running buddies. Trust me; these things didn't exist in my life for so so so many years. (mostly my fault) I was so engrossed in making money that I cut my social ties to an point where I become non-existent to everyone. Gladly, those days are left behind.

Of course, I am not diving into the health benefits of running because it's a known domain. But, my social life has taken a boost in the last one year like never before in one full decade. I feel blessed because of that.

I was wondering, how lonely are you or what changed the stakes for you? If you are lonely, follow my path (like embrace some sporting activity) or take clues from other interesting answer that this post might receive (whatever suits you) because you don't deserve a lonely life. I have lived that life so I know how depressing it can be, especially during festival seasons.

I am still living such life! I hope to change that someday.

I see so many people complaining about their lack of social life "because work from home" and I'm always "no, dumb-ass, it's because you're not getting out when you're not actually working". Glad to hear you figured it out! I would also suggest you join dancing groups, especially latin oriented. Take my advice,
do it now and you'll be thanking me later.

Start with hitting the gym bro. Like seriously, go there 6 times a week.

Best running shoe I have ever worn and I've put in lots of 90 + mile weeks, ran six marathons and spent countless hours just doing LSD (long slow distance) just for fun.

You and your running buddy would be well served with these.

Great job! I think our lifestyles matter more than what we do, when it comes to health. Working from home means having even more time in hand. We could choose to be a couch potato, or do things that matter. Being healthy and social could be a couple of them.

You’re into LSD, really? You always struck me as a weightlifting kinda guy.

I have been alone many times, but not lonely.

Become a friend to yourself, then you will not need someone else to validate your existence.

Don't get me wrong. It's good to have friends, but it is also good to learn how to be alone. You can learn a lot from solitude. In solitude, there are no distractions. Thus, your focus becomes laser sharp.

I wanted people with IQ to respond. So, why on earth would I post on reddit? :)

I no longer run but you can check my knees and see the miles on them to check the mileage.

The left one hurts all the time and the right one only hurts when the barometric pressure changes quickly.

I lift but only to maintain my girlish figure; not to be bulky muscle man.

Good thread, @super11, something that people need to consider.

All programmers and webmasters are alone. We're A-social people. Yes, we have to accept that!

How lonely am i?
I am from india and it's diwali here (3rd day) and it's the festival of going out with your family and friends out and spend time with them but since i have no friends, i am sitting on my laptop most of the time from 1st day of diwali. I am mostly on screen every normal day and on festivals too. :)
