I'm generally a positive person, I look on the bright side and try to make the best of life.
I own a bar and due to various complicated factors we're struggling a lot at the moment with cash flow, and that business takes up a lot of my time. Whatever spare time I have I'm using it to try to make money online - I do make money online but not very much - about $10 - $20 daily, which is fuck all when you live in London. I have hardly any time to sleep or eat or look after myself properly.
Tbh this whole "happiness is a perspective" philosophy is all well and good, but sometimes even a positive attitude won't get you out of a rut. I'm constantly anxious that it's all going to go to shit, I have butterflies in my stomach 24/7.We're running out of money and can't see a way out.
My bar is quite high profile in my town and so I'm a known face to the locals... if the bar fails I'll lose so much face, I'll have to move away from my life that I've built here because I honestly won't be able to face people, and anyway I won't be able to pay the rent so that means moving in to my mum's house (who will happily let me stay, bless her)... but then still, facing the shame of doing that and the questions from everyone I know, my friends, my family, it's just completely unbearable.
I'm averaging about 12 hours of sleep... a week. I'm going flat out to try to make extra cash with IM to save this situation but not getting anywhere fast. What's frustrating is the bar is really unique, nothing like it in the whole of London, and all the customers really fucking love it, always shaking my hand telling me how it's the best place they've been to etc. We started it a year ago and had so many doubters and haters but we showed everybody how it's done, so many people "took their hats off" to us, because now we're the busiest place in town. Everyone thinks we're rich but they don't fucking know the truth, that I can't even afford to buy new clothes and I'm surviving on Tesco Value food. I have to go and shop from out of town because owning a bar is all about the big bluff and if people knew the real situation they would talk and it would affect business.... "OMG you won't believe it, I saw the owner of XXXXX Bar buying this and that in the supermarket, you'd think he'd buy better things" etc etc... No way in hell can someone from around here can see me buying budget food.
When things are getting worse and worse week on week, debts getting bigger, and you're doing everything you can to try and make more money and still failing, you can have as positive an attitude as you want but it won't solve the fucking situation. I have the motivation and I work so hard man, so hard. As does my business partner. Yeah I know, if I lose everything I can say hey, i've got my health, my family, my friends.... but as I said if I do lose everything I won't be able to face any of my friends or my family, and I won't be able to come back to this town again... I've been here like 8 years.
So yeah, life's shit at the moment! Well hey, at least I've had the chance to get it off my chest here.
