How is this site even indexed!?

gypsydog, I'm not saying that, but where are those 2490 links at and what anchor text are they using? Did you get them from exchanges or low level unrelated sites, or are they solid links on related sites using "baby boutique" in the anchor text?

I can't compare your site and links to cozy's because all links are not equal and I have no clue what your site is or where your links are from... I'm just saying if you research the links that cozy site has they look pretty good. The top ones I glanced at are on related and established sites, that's authority and carries lots of weight for SERPs.

Compare the quality of your links against theirs and I'd bet you find a real difference.

OR, Google is penalizing you for something.

Your site also has a shit lot more indexed pages. You need to revise your internal linking structure, as well as your robots.txt Figure out which pages aren't bringing in traffic from the serps and deindex/revise the internal linking structure to them.

If you reduce the number of pages on your site to closer to thiers, you will most likely outrank them. If you figure that you would gain more traffic this way do it. If not, higher a link builder or get more links.

And you are welcome

I have ask him twice to give us the link to his site so we can help him, without it, were comparing apples to ........ well you cant compare something to nothing. Im almost convinced he is afraid to show us his site in fear that we will tell him to retake SEO 101 next semester.

Your right, my bad I was assuming this was his site (
babylaundyb0utique.c0m). Looked ok when I saw it, so I gave him some credit

100 relevant backlinks on authority sites will mean much more than 10k low level links in unknown or irrelevant sites.

LOL, sorry didn't see the request OK, OK, I will reveal the site...My site, actually more my wifes is www.L@L@[email protected] the @with a's and 0 with o. I am pretty savvy to the pre-florida update, at least I like to think I was. But post florida has got me a little lost. But check it out let me know. We're ranking 12th on google for B@by b0utique the keyword.

I just did a search for b@by Boutique on google and they are 14 and you are 12 out of 1,120,000

keywords in the domain are weighted VERY heavy by google.

hxxp://www.google.c0m/search?q=double+meta+refresh

im number 5 of 76,500.

I can't see doublemetarefresh.c0m in the first 100 results. In my experience the keyword in the domain name is very unimportant to ranking, per se. The confusion arises because the anchor text is very important. If the domain name is the same as the anchor text and this happens to be a competitive phrase, you will see a benefit. Hence people say that the domain name is very important.

That is the other wierd thing, they bounce from about position 4 to position 14 A LOT. In fact, that is how I noticed something about them. They keep bouncing all over the place in ranking. This has been going on for months.

Yeah, I agree that that is mostly the case. But also the number of non relevant letters/words in the domain also does seem to effect ranking, but to little consequence.

http://www.google.com/search?q=double+meta+refresh

im number 5 of 76,500. Domain is less than month old, and the copy that google had cached was a page not found (no content, no keywords, anywhere, no title, no meta, nothing), i didnt even submit a sitemap to google, and there were no backlinking yet.

I have to disagree with keywords in the domain weighted heavily. Its been my experience that they aren't very important anymore, especially not in google. Even less so in Yahoo.

MSN was the last engine that weighted them heavily, but even they seemed to have tweaked their algo a few months ago and devalued them.

must have gotten slapped for something lol. maybe i should put the page not found back up there lol.

You got sandboxed because your site is so new. You need to get a couple quality backlinks.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting to number 1 for double meta refresh. The single most important thing is keywords in the title and none of the top 10 results even have that phrase in the title.

None of the 10 even have a backlink. You can easily own the whole first page if you wanted to.

Does your site have a referral program? Maybe I'll grab the top spot and send you some traffic ;)

wow, this thread left my site and jumped on doublemetarefresh !!

umm, nice alexa rank, but that doesn't matter, its relevance and age

I hadn't looked at his site when I wrote before. I was just dispelling the old keyword-in-domain-name myth. Yes, the site is so lightweight that it will struggle to rank above the forums discussing this topic.

There is no sandbox. It is just shorthand for filters that hide a site because the owner didn't launch it properly. Knowledgeable SEOs launch fresh domain sites and get them to rank quickly without this filter effect.

I can't see it in more than 800 results in Google, so it looks like the -900 penalty has occurred, but I see no evidence of over-optimisation either. So it's probably the lack of authority at play. Needs more pages, more backlinks.

This question was asked at SES and answered by someone from Google.

Q: Why does a page bounce from #5 to #20 and back to #5? Is this an algorithm alteration?

A: This can either be different datacenters being hit based on traffic levels or your ISP (if it is a national ISP) connecting to different datacenters. It could also be caused by either the domain or the page not having enough authority and getting small "bursts" of links but they aren't enough to sustain it at #5, therefore it slides back to #20. Due to the complexities of the algorithm, it is too difficult for us (Google) to make a determination of ranking changes for just one keyword phrase.

See, it's so damn complicated they don't even know how to fucking rank in their own engine lol

Google seems to have a "fresh and new" index, and a "old but tried and true" index and they mix the new somehow. You will often see new stuff bouncing around the serps.

1. Alexa data is often wrong... Should only be used as a rough estimate at best.
2. Meta data is good but not a requirement and does not really if at all effect search ranking. In fact, I believe google says it does not effect ranking at all on there website because of meta tag spammers abusing it.
3. You don't necessarily have to have a lot of back links.
4. How you design your site is one of the most important things.

I made a one or two page site that ranked #1 out of 878,000 results for a famous music artists exact name... Yes it was above his own site and his record labels!!!

Didn't even use any black hat techniques.

Site error. told me it didn't post and i guess now when i hit submit it went and double posted. WTF???
