How is this guy ranked #1?

I wanted a Chase Freedom card today, so what did i do? I googled, "Chase Freedom"

I clicked on the number 1 spot, expecting it to be the right portal on chase.com, but to my surprise i was met with what looked like an iframed CPA offer. I bounced back to see what i'd clicked... sitting at #1, having bumped chase.com to #2, is chasefreedomnow.com

Basically I can't find out how this guy has pulled it off. If you look below, he looks way out of place where he's at, so I dug deeper.

He has 32 indexed pages... not only does this guy have no content, he also has the SAME little bit of content on nearly ever one of these pages.

He only has a handful of links in comparison to his competition, and the links he does have are not all THAT great... though he has managed to get a link from visa.com. Even so, how is he beating chase.com?

I thought my understanding of how to dig into one's competition was pretty good, but obviously i'm missing something in my research as things aren't adding up: very little content, duplicate content, few links, low pr, not fully optimized... yet #1.

Anyone want to help me figure it out? What have i missed?

check the age of the site

Domain age is 3. Your screen shot surprised me as well. :confused:
 
well he may have thousands of hidden links, he may have build thousands of backlinks to a domain and 301 to his url, hence not showing the backlinks, or maybe a dance too?

Possibly, but according to a number of sources he's getting an abnormal amount of traffic, whether its fake traffic or not who knows but his on-page SEO seems very poor for a website gaining so much traffic. Interesting lol!

This "Guy" is JPM Chase. Simple Who.is unveils that.

They have strong links, keyword in domain, a lot of their backlinks have chase freedom variation in anchor text. I'm not that surprised that it is ranking there, as the other sites are not optimized for it. Backlink from Visa.com helps a ton.

Chase Freedom is a different keyword than Chase.. He only ranks for Chase Freedom because he has it in his domain.
 
lot's of different ways, traffic, 301, indexed links that you don't see, incorrect links, and SEO tool that doesn't have the whole perspective
 
When I started looking I thought it had to be a chase site but it isn't if you view his source you can get his analytics address and see the other sites he has under that adsense code

he/she owns MMVUSA mmvusa which is a net site that is hosted by GoDaddy.
