I'm sure this kind of method has been shared here in the past, these results are not ingenious nor difficult to achieve. Success with this particular method comes down to simply finding a product/niche to target and then gaining targeted followers.

So, simply put, I registered an InstaGram page about a month ago but only started using the page about a week ago... I chose to start a page centered around "Computers for Sale" and "PC Parts & Hardware".

I built a website and manually listed around 250 random computers and hardware parts, added a nice logo and layout and used a branded domain that's an exact match to my InstaGram username.

Keep in mind that my website is NOT an affiliate site, by this I mean that I directly took products from another site and listed them at a higher price on my site. For example, a brand new laptop from the supplier at a cost of $249.99 would be listed on my site for $289.99 (And I charge a flat fee on my website of $9.99 for shipping & the shipping from the supplier is free).

Over the past week, I found 10 InstaGram pages that are PC related that have a lot of followers/likes and I began to follow all of the users who liked the uploads on these pages. I only followed users who liked photos that were uploaded within the last 12 hours so I know those I were following were active.

Obviously, the website URL is in my InstaGram bio so users can find the site and make a purchase.

Today I made two sales on the site which now puts me at a total of 4 sales for the week.

Like I said, this isn't a genius method or anything but it is something that "works" and I think that's what's most important here... A workable method that doesn't require too much of an investment.

It's worth noting here that I didn't use any software or automation tools, I actually took the time to do this manually as when I do start a project, I want it to be a long term source of revenue (If it's going to be successful).

One quick tip that I'll throw in for those who are going to try this method, before following other people in hopes of them following back, I'd make sure to have at least 20 quality posts on your page with helpful comments.

If I upload a picture of a hard drive, I don't just say "Go shop now at the link in my bio", I'll say something to the effect of "Go check out this incredibly priced 4TB External Hard Drive at a price that will fit any budget. Shipping is only $9.99 on all items with 2 hour response email support. Tracking numbers are provided on all orders".

You can also go in to further detail about the product on the post such as specifications and what not, this will help show that you're educated about the products you sell and will help you to seem more reputable to your followers (Or should I say potential buyers).

If you have any questions just let me know below.

This is definitely what's most important here. You did something different, you took a risk, and it paid off. Not to mention, this is incredibly "spinnable", and a lot of members will benefit from this by adding their own twist!

    Great share & congrats!

You're right about that, this method has a ton of variations that could be brought in to play. The key with this method is to keep the IG account alive and I plan on doing this by not spamming the page and by promoting the page manually. While automating the process with tools/software would save time, to me, it's just not worth taking the chance of losing my page.

I've seen too many posts here from members where they've lost HUGE accounts and that's not a situation I want to face, especially on a page that I've already made money on.

Yes I use PayPal. I have "PayPal Payments Pro" with integrated checkout so users can make a purchase directly on the site or alternatively, they can choose to checkout through PayPal.

Yeah seems to be a good method, appreciate the share. Might try something such as this or something comparable one day, but, either way it's nice to hear of what other folks are doing for learning/inspiration purposes.

    Cheers~

2 things : how do you handle the fact that the package may bear the name or invoice of the company you dropship from? Second how will you handle returns? Especially on pc software this is very tricky. I am dropshipping small and cheap products, but your customers expect high quality service.

As I mentioned in a comment above, I accept payments to "my" PayPal account on all orders through integrated checkout on "my" website. The business name on the payment page shows the name of my website, not the supplier's. Once the payment is accepted, I then pay the supplier to ship the product to the customer, the supplier "never" accepts payment(s) from my customers.

I understand that part. But I am asking about the package they will receive. It's from another company than yours

Thankfully the supplier is working with me in this scenario. I contacted this particular supplier prior to choosing them letting them know that I was wanting to resell their products. They agreed that when they ship a product for me that the "printed label" would bear the name of my website. This was a necessity for me before choosing a supplier for obvious reasons. Thankfully, it only took me contacting two suppliers before finding one that would do this for me.

So you're gonna purchase the items from the supplier and then ship them to the end buyer? What if the item gets sold between the time you scraped it and when you sold it? How will you maintain that updated?

EDIT: Just saw your reply to another user, was posted while I typed and answers my questions. Thank you.

Would it be possible to buy the product with an affiliate link and then send it to the person you sold it to?
Also, OP do you think this could work with Amazon products?
    Thanks

Of course this "could" work with Amazon but why make 2%-4% commission when I can make 20%-25% commission by using this method? If you sell a $200 item through Amazon you'll probably end up making around $4 (If I had to guess) when I can list it on the site for $239.99 and have the chance of making 10x the commission.

Even if conversions drop, you're still making 10x the money. I'll take a lower conversion rate any day if it means me increasing my commission 10 fold.

Great post OP, but I'm curious also what you do when the product is no longer available from your supplier? In this case do you find another supplier for this product or issue a refund?

There is a Amazon wordpress plugin were you could add a percent or flat fee to the price in order to sell and get a higher commission. Just talking out loud here. Sounds like an interesting idea.

These are mainstream products I'm selling so the supplier will always have them on hand. It's not as if I'm selling products that are available in limited quantities. If this was the case, I wouldn't be reselling them on the site. Even though it wouldn't happen, in the event a customer were to order a product that the supplier is out of stock of, I would simply issue a refund or attempt to order from a different supplier assuming they can meet my packaging and shipment needs (Using my website name on the package label).
