I made an experiment with one of my niche sites.
SV 3300.. Kitchen related niche, low competitive one.
Site age 8months then..
Basic link building+social sharing and a set of web 2 pbn (30 different platforms with decent content, structure, etc to look natural) and to each of the web 2 a relevant (as much as possible) 301 (RD=avg 50, avg TF 13, avg decent link profile, no porn, pharmacy history found)

The result:
It took 26-35 days to rank the main keyword to 2nd position and still there for the past 9days.
Sometimes it is getting the 1st position but most of the time it is in 2nd position.
What do the experts say, how long could I hold this position?
Would this lead to a penalty?

Note: Nothing is certain in ranking on Google. There are no fixed rules.

you 301'ed expired domains to webs 2.0 ?

Doesn't seem too harmful. That's like gray-hat-ish. Just continue doing that until you reach the top and then do it again (with a 5 new sites in the same niche).

So, if i understand correctly you 301 redirected 30 decent pbn domains to rank a 3300 keyword? If yes, that's not what I would call good roi but then again you managed to rank so good job I guess..

this is nice experiment. Do you 301 to some specific web 2.0 or all 30 web 2.0 ?

Don't need to host the domains so it's actually decent ROI.

It depends..

Niche relevant 50+ Rd are not cheap..

I can't see a great roi in that (for me at least) but as I said he made it work so he is already ahead of 99%..so good job

Now you can outreach people to get good links :) And keep dripfeeding comments and web2.0 links.

Try to keep your keywords there for 9 months and then make an update.

if you create all yourself its not that expensive. its just expensive if you buy PBN services or expensive expired domains.

I think you can have both pbn and webs 2.0 instead of blasting webs with pbn. you are wasting some pbn there

Hey do you mean registering a fresh domain then building links and 301 redirect them after they are indexed? Or did I get something wrong?
Cheers

i ment building up the PBN domains with new domains. yes it takes a while, but its cheaper and more reliable as if you buy some public pseudo PBN service that doesn't give the same benefit a real PBN has.

Thanks for your reply. I am a little confused as the other forum member stated "RD50 are not cheap" and you replied "if you create all yourself its not that expensive. its just expensive if you buy PBN services or expensive expired domains". Can you explain the process? So you get an expired domain and build new domains to it which means 301 redirect them to it(because no hosting)?
Thanks for your answer in advance and cheers.
