It works based on niche/ competition level etc... but never without the basics like onpage, tech or gbp optimization.

That's a smart and scalable approach. Podcast links from platforms like Anchor and PocketCasts are super underused in local SEO. Getting those DA 80+ links without guest posting saves time and budget - definitely a tactic worth testing for clients.

this is actually genius never thought about using podcast distribution purely for backlinks.
Quick question: when you submit the placeholder podcast, are you linking the business site in the description, the show notes, or the actual audio? And do all platforms actually keep the link live?

1. Yes all platforms keep the links live
2. We used to use them for blog posts ranking and indexing initially (works great with audio schema on target blog), but now as blogs have become less relevant we are using it to power up some tier 1 properties
