Okay, so I have plans to make a blog related to Afghanistan current events. I live in Afghanistan, so I am well-versed on the political, cultural, and societal events in Afghanistan. I also got two guys who are willing to do 3 600-800 word articles a week. How tough would this be to rank and also is this profitable? The end goal is to make money, and don't know if this would be profitable. I did a quick google search for "afghan events" and some scrub website was number 10. The others were subpages of news websites.

I don't have an adwords account to use Google's keyword planner because it requires like $100 advertisement budget. If someone has an adword account and can copy this to an excel spreadsheet, I would be very grateful.

Here is some search results for "afghan events" according to Term Explorer set to Google.com US. http://pastebin.com/66cnfxeJ

You're just starting out, so I would go for long tail keywords if I was you. It will be easier to rank and you can build up the tougher keywords over time.

If your articles are good and worth sharing, you may get a lot of visitors and people linking back to your site but it has to be really, really, really good content for it to go viral. In other words, don't worry so much about quantity, just focus on the quality and make it really "meaty". I would aim for lengthier articles - long form gets more social shares. It seems you have a lot of content in you so that shouldn't be a problem. Even better if you can do both quality and quantity. If you release lots of articles in rapid succession in the first few weeks of launching the site, you will "train" the spider to visit your site on a regular basis. After that you can relax a bit once you have this traction. Make sure all you articles are unique, use copyscape to check.

Study all the ways in which you can get traffic from SEO, paid traffic, viral marketing, link bait, guest posting etc. Don't just rely on one source.

Make sure your site is fast loading and SEO optimized. As your traffic increases, you may want to upgrade your servers to handle the traffic.

I would consider this a long term project so be prepared for the long haul. Keep at it and keep adding content. Work on your headlines. Afghanistan has been through a lot but has a bright future. As it grows over the next couple of decades, your site can grow with it - making your site an authority on all things Afghan. If you don't do it, someone else will and you'll be kicking yourself in a few years time when they're rolling in the cash and influence.

But if you do, do it and persevere. You'll have a sizable and valuable asset with lots of traffic in no time. Once you get the traffic, you will get ideas on how to monetize it. From selling banner ads to flogging your own products.

Don't let anyone discourage you. You can do it! So get to work and pump that content out buddy!

There are probably very few quality native Afghan blogs out there. You should do great and it shouldn't be hard to rank due to the uniqueness of this blog, especially if you manage to get a localized domain.

It is a good idea, you could monetize through adsense. Country specific write ups tend to be profitable.

Definitely doable with PBN links. Wouldn't take much, either.

Appreciate your efforts dumbodrop. You're definitely inspiring.

    OP-
Choosing an afghan TLD might also be helpful for better trust.

You could do some press releases and guest posts at the beginning. Since you are a native you could be a reliable source for the world. Make sure you also put up and About Me or About Us page for better relevance and authority.

    Good Luck

Its a good niche, and I suppose you would mostly be competing against new related sites.
