How Google SGE will impact your traffic - Study Case

yeah, but other sites saw a 219% increase

But anyway, these are just estimates of a rando website, it doesn't mean that google will have to conform to any of these...

If Google kills just 50% of the web's organic traffic then I suspect there will be a lot of job losses soon.
SGE focuses to serve "one good answer" which means only the top result counts.
For me SGE recovery project are a little bit non-sense.
The real question is:
What concrete steps are necessary to optimize a page content,
what factors will count to get into that single SGE box?

Getting into the SGE Carousel becomes the new goal, replacing getting into the "Top 3" rankings. I think the biggest impact that SGE will have is most people simply will not scroll past the SGE box. So the CTRs for additional results will drop even lower than they are now. For search queries that invoke an SGE box, you're either in the carousel or you don't exist.

What people don't really know/understand yet is whether positions in the SGE Carousel are relatively static like SERPs or if Google will rotate the three spots dynamically. That will really change the SEO game.

As with all things Google, though...no one knows until it happens.
