How effective is Black Hat today?

Yeah I remember reading that article by Skyrocket a few months ago and having my eyes opened to what's happening even on a corporate level. (http://nenadseo.com/new-seo/)

Though IMO they'll do what they did to RapGenius - slap their wrist then put them right back up to where they were.

exactly. Their stock took a hit because of this. I'll probably buy in a few days if it keeps dipping

Thanks for the link :)

Anyway, the things we covered in that article are nothing compared to what they did. They are real black hatters, believe me...their method is simple and great.

I just realized that your blog also got a link in the article by Mashable... I bet that feels nice :)

Soo... what did they do?

It will never die. And every time somebody says that SEO is dead, its simply to draw attention to his/her blog. It gets old and annoying really quick to be honest. Blackhat SEO is more than what people think it is. It's not just a collection of methods, it's a way of thinking. It means you are finding a way to outsmart the people who are under the impression that they have to read Google's terms of service from top to bottom and obey them like they are some sort of government. There will always be a way to outsmart people. Period.

The term "blackhat" is misleading. The real "blackhat" are whitehat companies that charge their customers $100/hour without any results. Now THAT is as dark (or black) as it gets.

I think Google just pretends to 'catch' big brands every now and again to make it look like they are fair. Also, think about how much adwords spending on the term "cheap flights" are they going to milk out of Expedia now.

Well, we just followed what MaCu said, we created great content I guess ;)

No problem with Blackhat SEO in 2014 and I just do what makes money. Right now I see that as Blackhat SEO set up right
and private blog networks.

Every way/method to get google rank the site unnatural can be called "blackhat" - but all call it white hat , to get more clients. But its only change of words. Google prefer that Seoers change their job..
