How effective is Black Hat today?

Hey all...

Saw this article. Apparently Expedia is getting docked for using "unnatural links"

The question is: How are black hat methods helping in 2014?

There will always be working blackhat methods, no matter how much Google tries to put a stop to them. Just tread carefully.
 
Provided you follow certain best practices (and sometimes even if you don't lol) black hat SEO is still working just fine, at least for me anyway.
 
Yes, it works, but it's not that cheap as what it was.

I remember a few years back when just one service for $100 would blast 5 keywords in to the top 3 on Google, now it's more like $500 for several SEO services.
 
Mix it with some white hat method in tier 1 - it's so powerful!!

Hello. May I know what do you mean with "unnatural links" please? Do you mean it's generating dynamic links every time?
 
How effective is it? Maybe you should read around this forum. Surely the several thousand active visitors are wasting their time?
 
I just like buying spammy links for something to spend my MaccyD wages on. It is the taking part that counts.

Yeah I remember reading that article by Skyrocket a few months ago and having my eyes opened to what's happening even on a corporate level. (Link to post)

Though IMO they'll do what they did to RapGenius - slap their wrist then put them right back up to where they were.
