How does YouTube really decide how much you earn?

I’m a total noob at this and just trying to create some content around my hobby. But I’m curious—how does YouTube actually decide how much you earn?

Is it just about views and watch time, or are there other hidden factors? If you’ve got any tips or go-to blogs that break it down, I’d love to learn!

I dont work with youtube adsense but i know it depends on the niche you are .For example the finance niche pay more than funny niche as example
And from i know you get like 1 to 5$ per 1000 views depending on the niche as i told you

RPM depends mainly on niche Or topic video is made on. There are other factors also like where is the traffic coming from.

Appreciate the input! Looks like I’ll need to research those factors more for my product. Niche and traffic sources seem key.

Youtube basically has a balance on how they pay based on niche, what it means is if the niche is highly watched by general public then the cpm will be low and if the niche has dedicated viewers then the cpms will be higher, for example entertainment niches are watched by a larger general audience so the cpm will be lower compared to a finance niche since only dedicated audiences watch it, the other factor also depends on geography, type of videos where advertisers think the conversion rate might be higher for example tech videos will be pretty high since the audience watching those kind of videos will be more attracted to purchase those products.
 
views and watch time, someone once told me that also affect the type of add and if your followers see te add without skiping it add a little bit towards you but nt sure fi that is true but who knows.

It depends on the niche you are in, the number of views, watch time per video, traffic,...
 
If you want to make money you should choose a field that attracts viewers, and you can link with a few advertising brands, you will have a significant income.
