How does this work ? Domain name ownership

Since I'm all new to the IM world, I still have a lot of questions on my mind.
One of them being, who has got the priority or the rights to a domain name FIRST !

Let's say for example, a new company has started, and I think this company is the next McDonald's.
I go and register a domain under "thenextmcdonalds.com", then wait to get a call from the company reps to discuss how much I should get for it.

They may have the name under copyright and all, but they did not register the domain, which is my right as an individual to do. So, can I do this ? Or do they have the right to just come and take my domain away from me without even paying for a drink before fucking me in the ass ?

A domain can be taken from you in the event of a trademark infringement. It happens all the time so you are rolling the dice if you decide to go that route.

Not only will they not pay for a drink for you before taking it but they very well may drag you into civil court and sue you.

This doesn't sound like a profitable business to me, and I wouldn't dive into it.

don't mess with copyright domain names mostly they will take away the domain for free

I'm sure we've all heard the story of some guys buying big companies domains when the internet was just starting and got super rich with that ? Did the laws change ?

What if I bougt the domain BEFORE they had registred the copyright ?
