How does this single 200 word article have 300 ranking keywords?

I was playing around in SEMRush and Keywords, getting more comfortable with using it as a tool. So I picked a random long keyword from the list of the domain that I picked out and looked at the page it was for. Went into the page and found it ranked for 300 keywords. Intrigued, I opened the page to see what it was and the shortest most simple 200 word article was all that was there for content.

How did this happen?

I've seen guides that suggest 2-3 keywords per article, with some length and content, I've also seen people that reply in those guides saying they can still outrank with lorem ipsum. Regardless, this is over 300 keywords in an article with only 200 words in it. What's going on?




Is this the penultimate goal for SEO or just the effect that a well-established website has on SERPs? Did they 'crack the code' of Google, or is this normal for a domain that large with an article that's aged?

That can't be right. A 200 word, 3 year old article. Maybe it's a flick or a flaw.

your question does not make any sense, there is no correlation b/w the number of ranking keywords and article word count... keyword could be variations and LSIs...so it's possible ranking 100-word content for 500 keywords as well.

yes 100% agreed

its not single keywords but also longtails and combinations

If you see the keywords it is ranking, all are closely related. This is a good example to prove how people use different search terms with the same intent. This is possible because of the combination of root domain authority and the lack of keyword competition.

You can target all the keywords ranking on the second page, as they seem to be remotely related.

That's exactly right. And I think Google's AI algorithm ranks the sites for the keywords differs, based on Bounce rate and avg time spent on the page too.

Different KW combination, long tails, latent symmetric KWs.. It is POSSIBLE!

This is why some results never make sense

Search for xxxxxx android APK and get an iTunes link that never mentions Android, APK etc
