How Does this Account Have So Many Followers?

So we have been watching this company since it came around on March 1st of this year and we are so confused about how they have gained such a massive Instagram following in such a short time span... The account is - instagram.com/cherrypick/

When we found them, they had around 10,000 followers on Instagram already and received between 600-1,000 likes on every picture they posted, including their very first picture... However, even though they have over 34,000 followers now, they still receive around the same amount of likes on every picture.. The whole thing seems strange to me and I assume they are using bot software and/or paying for fake followers...

Any thoughts on what they could be doing?

If they are receiving the same amount of likes per pic then more than likely they purchased fake followers to make their brand seem more popular.

This is a real thing. Similar thing happened to me. When I first started out, I had around 10k followers and I was getting past 1000 likes on some posts. Now I have 35k followers and I'm lucky if I get a couple posts that go past 1k likes. Every couple days I'll have a popular post that gets past 1000. I average between 600-850 likes per post. I don't know how to explain it.

You were affected by the engagement drop unfortunately. Happened to me as well on some accounts.

if this happened before, I would've told you with 100% certainty that they bought followers. but right now there is also a good chance that they've used bot software and were affected by the engagement drop. plenty of people wrote in here that even though they went from 10k to 50k, the number of likes they received has stayed the same

Likes rate is too high, the likes might not be legit.

you can't. it's not that you have a choice to undo it. everyone is affected. well..almost

They probably promoted their page on FB and then got throttled like most commercial presence on IG. Even if you have a bazillion followers on IG and your page is commercial, you'll get throttled like in Facebook.

For instance: a page I manage went from 3000 likes to over 11000 and post engagement was just a tad higher unless I bought boosts. Really sucks unless you're J Lo or some celebrity, THEY get all the perks.

they are most likely using a likes service, as you can see, on their posts, they get their likes in big clumps. It will go from 500 to 600, instead of slowly increasing

Yeah, my guess is they bought followers as well.

The engagement drop is way too much if they were truly affected by it. But who knows, IG is weird sometimes.

I think the general consensus is that she is purchasing likes and followers. Rockyrules made a great point that they are receiving likes in big "clumps". We have been watching the account and confirmed this. Thanks again!
