How does one go about getting more clients without having a website?

Hi BHW members,

Can anyone help me with tips for getting more clients even when I do not own a website?

Thing is I am not after getting just any client. I am after getting clients who buy articles regularly.

I have a number of clients who buy articles on a monthly basis. While the pay I get from them is fair, the money is not just enough to meet all ends.

Forums are not so dependable obviously. I have not had any luck getting good clients from this platform.
Maybe one of these days I will. But as of the time of this post, I'm still hoping.

There are a number of boards that I have used to offer writing services, and I agree that sometimes it's difficult to get regular clients. However, you have to take what you can get, and the more clients you get, the more likely you are to find someone who wants to work with you on a long-term basis.

As far as not having a website goes, there's nothing wrong with having a quick WordPress site to use as a place to show off your writing samples and to offer details about what you're offering.
 
Forums are pretty much the only way. Or get a free Wordpress blog with your domain name for your portfolio.
 
I can be a bit more challenging but not impossible. You can use the same methods as if you had a website but if someone ask for a portfolio or website make sure to have one handy.
 
Dude you need to do the advertising of your business till people don't know how good your work has been how come you expect them to buy your stuff?? the market right now is so tough none of them will be ready to take a risk. Give reviews of your work so the people may know what you are doing, but most of all advertise your business.
 
A portfolio is a must. And there are lots of free website hosting solutions including blogger and Wordpress.
 
Buddy, Social Media Marketing is one of the best way of advertising your business even without your website. You can create a powerful fan page at Facebook to staged your product and connect it to twitter where in you can daily post your words of wisdom regarding your product. Lol jk that meme is getting so old. But yeah grab a free [sub]domain, post on sites like fiverr, hunt for gigs on odesk, freelancer, etc, use social media... tons of ways! But nothing beats having a professional website to show off ;)

You could also upgrade and open a BST thread offering article writing, I've seen several threads with thousands of views offering this, could add a large chunk of customers to your database as well.
 
Thanks......I have the same question. I d'nt have website, but I know some service. How do I get client or how to promote my service. I promote through fiverr like website. Can any one suggest me website to promote my service.. Thanks ................

Whats the problem with creating one though?

If you are too busy or don't know how to build one, you could outsource it and keep your current tasks going.

Later, you could manage to advertise it and get the clients..
 
You definitely need a sweet portfolio to send along your offer on writers' platforms and wherever you spot a perspective client, especially from the niches of your interest. Bomb them with versatile samples, but within the niches.
I do have a website, but I use the aforementioned method since I can't find the time to work on my site properly.
 
Yahoo boards are very good sources. I think a website is very useful and doesn't really take much time/work to set up. But if you're not keen on it, have you tried blogging to have a virtual presence and drive traffic your way? You could have a free blogger account with different sites for sample work, references and so forth.
 
Social media, forums along with sites like odesk and elance, would recommend getting a website up as soon as possible though, it looks more professional.

Try fiverr, forums, CL and other classifieds.
 
I would suggest that you set up a social network site to offer your services, like on on facebook. Tweet about your services as well and get on forums that offer you the chance to post your jobs that you would like to do for others. Best of luck to you in this.

This one.

I remember a web designer who created his own portfolio containing his works and masterpieces, skills and background work history. He even included a contact page in his portfolio website so his clients can reach out to him.

You can do this method and promote your website portfolio to those who are interested to hire you as a writer. Spread the word through forums, blogs and even social marketing sites.
 
The best source of new clients is returning clients.

Make them happy, over deliver, and get repeat business.

It is much easier to retain a client than to look for new ones.

Also, clients that are happy with you will refer you to their friends. It is likely they know people who are the same industry who need good quality services.
