Hello, im thinking about start to create a local Buzzfeed website for my country (czech). I think I good understand how buzzfeed works - they are checking hot topics&trend on social media, news and blogs. Content could be add by "admins" and users - but my question is, does buzzfeed have a permission for using pictures and contet from other sites?

What do you think ?

No they dont have permissions, nor they ask for it. Even their popular list are stolen from less famous blogs.
Basically since part of the content is user generated you just have to be DMCA compliant.

Yes, you are right about how it works and Buzzfeed was sued I think last year (2012) for publishing copyrighted celebrity photo without permission, so legal implication assessment is necessary.

Yeah I think it was prolly because that celeb photo belonged to Getty Images or some other big corporation. You should stay away celeb and stock pictures (not paid) since they belong to companies and those guys can sue :)

I'd say Buzzfeed is a huge copyright infringing website Look for those creative common licenses, kids
