There are many different answers, but I'd bet that more often than not, their employers would call it "misappropriation of company resources" ;)
 
they do it knowing we get to enjoy the movie. It's getting worse and more blackhat like faggots who spam replica movies from trusted groups, i bet quite a few BHW members here do this shit. You can see all the torrent $$$ threads... scum of society
 
He may be an authorised content distributor for mininova and others, and probably get paid on a profit sharing agreement. The ad revenue might be shared.

He has surely put money into the pockets of mininova because of his popularity, so if he hasn't monetized himself yet, he surely should. Especially given the very real possibility of having to defend himself from lawsuits in the future.

I don't think so. There are guys who just do things for money. If there's no money, it's not worth it (mee =]) . And there are guys who just do things because they like it.

It's about the rep, the fun, the illegal stuff.

Sell unreleased movies to Asian Companies. You could make at least $3000 per movie.
 
The warez scene is only good to go to if you're on the ground in a developing country. I use to sell downloaded cam-rips for $1500 for new movies and sometimes $2000+ for locally yet-to-be-released movies to pirates in my country. Some of the are too dumb to even download.. many of them thinks that I recorded the movie myself in a cinema.

Alternatively, you can sell pirated vcds/dvds online targeting specific regions. I see so many unexploited niches...

going by what you say, making money on the internet itself is shit. How many of the weight loss ebooks out there are genuinely helpful? How many of the websites out there have genuinely good content? Wasn't CraigsList created to help society too? Isn't youtube supposed to be spam free too? So if you make money on the internet, you are scum. Hell, even offline, how many products actually deliver what they advertise?

what im trying to say is that there are good things and there is spam that peple make money from. It is very easy to seperate spam from the good things. especially torrents. If people are dumb enough to fall for stupid shit, im sorry, but they deserve to be made money off. Survival of the fittest my friend...

IMHO Anyone thinking they don't make money is bit stupid, when they are most likely the ones dominating the torrent cash biz.. Dunno tho :)
 
i think axxo is earning from every torrent website , has a deal or something and its not 1 person its like a team of people that work on ripping and stuff
 
If he did earn a lot I don't think he would tell anyone. But all he has to do is put a watermark or something in a release and boom ads.
 
Sceners don't make money. aXXo is just a re encoder who rips scene work and gives no credit to the real sceners who did the work

As for making money from the scene, sure. why not? someone has to do it.
