feng office its free and if you stuff it on a subdomain behind .htaccess it makes a grea way to stay on top of everything from anywhere... its really good at keeping eerything organized and linked just check it outits worth its weight in gold

I use the GTD (getting things done) method by David Allen (google for it if you havent heard of him), he initially made this for high profile managers and their offline habits, but it also covers now online, and lets face it you should have of all your stuff an offline version (print outs). I use his system plus a laptop just for ongoing backup plus a cloud service that does automatic backup.

A few years back my place burned down, and i tell you its not pretty to get all those files, snippets, bookmarks, notes etc back if you havent thought ahead...

You guys should check out Evernote.
I use it to organize everything and can send myself emails, check anything from my iPhone, upload different file types etc.

Also want to get a project management app but most seem too team based and not som1'person based.

For $1,000 I can organize a hell of a lot more than just my web sites...

the best program i have found to organize clients, and myself is Active Collab. you can get a demo for 30 days from their website. they charge $500 or something for the software, but you can get a nulled version for free. it has really changed the way i work!

my clients LOVE it cos it gives a good impression and i love it cos i dont have to bounce emails back and forth, plus i can store everything im thinking on my own server

Look at everything you guys suggested and while some apps are good for general note taking are not what I want. I think I will keep going with Excell+txt files and then gradually build a database driven app to my exact specs.

I like LastPass for users/passwords/etc. You can organize them into folders/categories/etc. A number of sites have the ability to auto-login

Microsoft OneNote. It's in the office package.

I've setup my F1 to F12 with autohotkey to open notepad++ with different config file. This is the best set up I ever had.

I use a white board on the wall.. exevry thing i need to remember goes onthere mate.

All completed sites have a spreadsheet that shows what has been done and when i need to do anything else to it.

google docs and spreadsheets.

I like being able to access data on my Android. Google docs has a killer app now.

This thread is great, lot of good ideas from different perspectives.

I'd like to add 2 things, besides software that will make you more productive in my opinion.

First: multi-monitor configuration. At least 2 monitors, but i'd recommend 3 or more. With more than one monitor you can keep 2 things on the top, that'll make life much easier.

You can read in one monitor and apply the reading in another. I keep 1 browser in each monitor, excel files in one, word/notepad files in another.

I'm sure you can think a lot more benefits using this configuration. And make it big. I'm using one 32'' LED as a main and a 23'' LCD as second monitor, right now i don't have space in my desk to install another one, but I'm moving to a bigger house until the end of the year and than I'm going to buy 2 32'' and make an 3x 32'' array.

Second: A macro programmable keyboard. I use this:

With this you can create any macro you can think of, including delays. I know you can do that with softwares, i do have Winautomation installed in my desktop but with this keyboard a can program something in a few seconds.

Really basic and stupid examples: Writing a article, you're going to need to write your main keyword a lot, you can program one key to insert the keyword in one click and if you have a really long keyword this will help a lot.

One thing that I always have macro'ed in my xkeys are the copy, paste, select all, backspace, enter key, among others. I don't know about you, but i copy and paste a lot, i mean a lot! It's much easier organize all these keys organically on my xkeys than keeping using ctrl-everything and develping a carpal tunnel syndrome

I know that you can do all this with a normal keyboard but won't be easy as this.

BTW,right now, i just copied this whole text clicking my xkeys copy key, just to avoid to lose everything if something wrong happen when I submit.

List everything. Don't messed up by day to day task and make sure that everything you did was documented. This is for future use or reviewing. Or just simply create a diary of what you have did for everyday.

Ah, I guess we don't have other choice neh.

But I'm not good with php and mySQL except when it's for WordPress.

I guess I'll code a WordPress theme or plugin for my own needs, beside when it's online mean I can access anywhere too.

Or perhaps this idea is good enough for you to develop. I'm sure you are better in programming than me. Well, count me as beta tester if you actually make one.
