How do you sit down and just write?

I start research/writing anything and my brain just goes into super ADHD mode. It doesn't help that I really hate writing, But you know, gota do what you gota do.

help me cope bhw, Got any tips for a retard like me? Also what methods do you use to organize your thoughts about the article before writing (or do you do it as you write?)

Man it happens to everyone. Even the greatest writers. You just gotta be motivated enough. You either get motivated by having a great idea or by having a great incentive. That's why if you're a content writer getting paid (a sum you feel is commensurate to your skills) then you won't have much problem.

Writing for your own blog that hasn't started yielding interest may not be so easy cos, like you said, you'll get distracted easily with nothing concrete to hold you down.

As for organising your thoughts, you can go with bullet list of your main points, and organising sub headings first and taking them one after the other.

Hope you find a source of motivation and get writing soon!

This is where I am currently. Definitely not a seasoned content creator haha. Just trying to my best, I feel like i get overwhelmed though.

"So if i write this topic, and add some related content into the post in order to increase seo and content length/quality, will i be cutting off my own nose for future articles targeting similar responses" type of thing, and once i get into that loop it feels like anything i write is lava and i should avoid it ><
 
Definitely turn off your phone and other distractions.
Once I have started it starts to flow naturally and it becomes quite enjoyable

I've always liked this. You put on something specific (depends on the person, could be music, could be random podcast etc) that's just complex enough to distract the annoying part of your brain that can't sit still so the rest of your brain can get some work done.
 
I also recommend listening to music while working. I am not an article writer, but I code. Coding can be very boring some times, specially when you have a lot of bug fixes to handle with a deadline.

To cope up with the boredom, I listen to instrumental music. I prefer classical music, but it could be anything given that the music has no voice. I have found out that music with lyrics distracts me more than not listening to anything. Anything without lyrics, and I can focus a lot more.

imagine a routine and then start writing about it, and then break the routine
 
I struggle with this everyday and somehow I pushed out 15+ articles this month writing. My secrets? Since I’m ALWAYS lazy, I would spend my lazy time watching a motivational movie. This would push me out of my bed right after the movie. I would finish one article right after.

The bad thing about me is that I lose motivation REALLY quick but the good thing is I know how to motivate myself.

I would cycle through movies, successful case studies, and watch YouTube videos about successful people that started with NOTHING.

I’m also laziest when I try to brainstorm what to write. My suggestion is to finish your article and continue on to the next with an introduction. Save draft. The next time you write, it’ll be 100x easier because you already know what you’re writing about.

And trust me, I do this everyday. I have recommendations for movies before you work or when you’re feeling lazy. It might not help you, but it helped me.

Just always remind myself of the feeling I have when I finish the article and click "Publish". Each article, each sentence, each word is another small step towards a website that has the potential of building more passive income.

Also try to think about one day, how nice that post would look on the first page of Google ;)
 
I am no writer by any means, but something that helps me is to read 1 or 2 articles on the topic I am writing about right before I begin writing. Probably sounds lame, but it's helped me, when I get mental block.
 
I don't do writing, but I do videos. It gets dry for me too a lot of times, and I get overwhelmed by seeing too much of the future that might not really happen until I actually let something out.
So I did it anyway. A lot of times end-result was better than expected, and I learned too so that's a win.

As for organization, all of the advice above are great. Here's my spin on it:
  • Turn off any distractions. (hanging browser tabs, social media, phone, etc..)
  • Focus on a single topic.
  • Get a paper or a whiteboard. Enumerate at least 5-10+ ideas you have for that topic. Make them short like a title, or even a word would do. The point here is to just capture that idea so you can get back on them later.
  • Once you're happy with what you've collected, rank each on a scale of 10 based on the potential of the idea and your interest (meaning you really want to write, research about it, or it just really piques your mind). So you got two rankings. I recommend you do this on a spreadsheet so that you can sort them later.
  • Sort your ideas with the highest potential, and interest.
  • Pick your cake and start working on a draft right away. (If you're writing then an outline of how you'll go about it will do, I also do this on my videos I make an outline first before making any sort of footage.) I recommend too to not get overboard with this one, it's a draft to let your creative juices flow not a final output.
  • Once you're done, take a small break. (Go watch a 10-20min. video, play 1 round of an online game, go listen to a full-length album, etc..)
  • Get back on your draft and tackle it one at a time until it's done.

Smoke some weed and sip on a glass of wine. Lol .. Some actual advice though is to practice free writing. Just write anything you are thinking even gibberish! Try to do this free write exercise once a day. You will eventually develop the discipline and creativity to just write about anything.
 
before creating a new blog i always find 2 or 3 competitor so i can just rewrite competitor article, this is much more easier than researching from scratch. this is my secret creating 3-5 article /day :D
 
Literally fuckin same problem.
I even hate reading books and this is why I prefer audio books/ videos over just traditional books.
 
Here's what enables me to write very quickly

Write the 3 main points of the article - these usually triggers me to write a 1 paragraph intro

I then write 3 sub-points about each main point - these support the main point's claims

Once I've written those 9 lines, everything pretty much writes itself

If I get stuck in one part, I just to the next main point's sub-points and jump back when I've achieve a state of 'flow'
 
So much good advice in here guys tysm. Im going to try out everything and see what works haha
 
A lot of great tips here already.

I would just add the Pomodoro technique, it helped me a lot in terms of focus.
It kinda forces you to have a certain time where you need to be concentrated. Give it a try.

I was recommended a book by a copywriter. The book is by Cal Newport and it's called Deep Work.
I got it on Audio and I'm due to listen to it again.
It will change your life. I recommend it to everyone!
