How do you manage SEO projects?

I'm all about Raven - the reporting is just crazy sick for my clients. I am a total hot head and I fire off all sorts of feature requests and bug stuff and they are pretty good about getting back. They've GOT to implement 2 things:

1. Create a tasks template so I can use the same tasks for a new client (deal breaker pretty much)
2. Turn Tasks into Events upon completion

Anyone have a sample IBP report to look at? Didn't see one on the site...

call me old fashioned, but I work off of a simple check list.

when I book a new client and we determine their needs and which services will be provided, I whip out my pre-made services template(s) (made 'em in excel) and create a task group specifically for that client.

easy to see which tasks needs to be done, on what schedule.

I use spreadsheets for everything.

Excel is an amazing program.

I also use google docs. Use google docs regulalrly in your life. Organize things into folders.

Make a VERY detailed spreadsheet for each site.
site name, wordpress login (if there is one), google rank, yahoo rank, bing rank,

then a column for each category of backlinks you build:
social bookmarking, profile links, link wheels, comments, etc. . .

Then do the old fashioned trick of using check marks for what you've done and keep track of your rank.

use rankchecker . net for keeping tabs on SEO placements.

Obviously you can add more or less to your spread sheets, but when they're in google docs they are on a 'cloud' so you can access from anywhere and update as necessary.

Yeah, I use this same system with an excel spreadsheet. It's just way easier to manage. I have multiple sites that need work at once, so I do the same task for various sites. It's working great for me.

Here is what I do:

Change little. Measure a lot. What you do today effects two quarters from now. In valuable markets its a 2-4 year game if you want to stay there.

Delegate, don't abdicate and money talks and bullshit walks. The profit makes the decisions. And the scale of ROI & success likelihood of the opportunity prioritize what you work on.

Anything the isn't making dollars isn't making sense. In people terms... these are most likely your friends at work... the asshole sales guy who always argues against you... he is mostly likely that way because he can be... untouchable by performance. Those are the ones you want and pit them against each other.

That's what I'd do...
