How do you make thumbnails for YT videos?

I usually prefer Canva because it’s quick to work with and gives enough flexibility to make the thumbnail fit the video AI can also be useful for coming up with ideas

@alonelywriter has the right idea... no point reinventing the wheel when you can just grab whatever is already getting high CTR in your niche and adapt it. AI is decent for weird background elements or abstract stuff but using pure AI thumbs usually looks cheap and people scroll right past them now. Best setup is usually finding a cheap designer to pump out variations of winning concepts rather than trying to do it all yourself or relying entirely on Midjourney.

Yes I make my youtube videos thumbnail by myself because am a graphic designing student and also learning more about graphic designing and practicing on daily basis so it is not tough for me. Sometimes I design them manually and in some cases i use canva for this to save my time. I only use canva in urgent cases when I have short time.

After spending an hour watching tutorials on YouTube, I chose canvas to do it. You should check out the tutorials there; they're very detailed.

Most of my thumbnail images are designed by me. Although it takes time, I enjoy it.

I usually use Canva for quick thumbnails and Photoshop when I want to do more detailed editing. I use AI sometimes too, mostly for ideas or small elements.

Do you make yourself or have hired someone? Also, are you using AI to make thumbnails?
I usually create my own thumbnails to ensure the visuals align with the channel's content and style. While I use AI to assist with tasks like brainstorming, image editing, or generating specific elements, I maintain full control over the process and finalize the thumbnails myself.
