Honestly, I have no idea about shopify as I never did anything on it. I have done lots of WordPress sites though. I would always tell my client to buy me a vps (insert server requirement here) hosting plan, managed or unmanaged. I would then recreate the site (and optimize it) to match the demo.
Well, I can always give them reseller hosting right? I'm using reseller hosting for myself and I have the option of 75 cPanel accounts. So, I can easily assign one to them after getting the payment and not care about it or give a damn in case anything gets wrong on the server side? Because I gave him a working site and a working hosting?

What I have done is told clients they need hosting for their website so I can make it, they then pay uprfont for the hosting (using your affliate link) and give you the login details.

I am new to this so I don't know how reseller hosting exactly works. I thought after making an account for them, they can contact support and solve any issue with the support. That's why I said that.For the reseller hosting part, yepp of you have it already; it makes sense to setup the account for them.
As for not giving a damn, it is against my work ethics. Money is one thing, client satisfaction is another thing. Even if I have already got the money, I would probably help the client to solve the hosting problem especially if the server is mine. This way, I can make sure that if they need another project.. They will surely think about me first. Of course, the policy can be different for you

Okay, if you have WHM panel you can still login to any of the sub accounts with your root access. So, both you and the client will be able to access anything you want. Your client will login to the cpanel interface with their credentials (supplied by you). So, it is separate for each client. And regarding client satisfaction and money - My policy is both money and client satisfaction. I don't keep one before the another. Both are equally important to me from a business point of view.
