Hey BHW,

I’m a also developer who loves building automations with n8n (workflow automation tool), and I recently realized that creating a scalable SaaS product that the market actually wants is like a hot cookie - people grab it fast if it solves a real problem.

Now, I’ve built something, but the real challenge is getting users. I know the basics - cold outreach, ads, maybe even SEO - but I want to hear from those who’ve successfully scaled a SaaS product.
  • How did you source your first paying users?
  • What growth strategies worked best for you?
  • Any underrated hacks for getting traction early?
I would appreciate any insights from those who’ve been there

  • How did you source your first paying users?
Submit your startup to free & paid ''AI, Startup, SaaS etc., directories''
  • What growth strategies worked best for you?
AppSumo, ProductHunt launch.

Niche Facebook groups & Reddit subreddits.
Influencer marketing in AI, SaaS, Tech niche - IG, TikTok, Youtube.
  • Any underrated hacks for getting traction early?
Cold email outreach to targeted niche lists. Target the same lists on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X Paid Ads.

It all depends on your budget and skills, or the skills of your team, I would emphasize a few directions
posting on forums (like on bhw), saas sites (saashub, g2, etc), niche groups on social media (fb, reddit, telegram)
work on content, develop a product blog and you can try to start contextual advertising
the rest, as far as I'm concerned, doesn't make sense at an early stage

Forget casting a wide net initially. Pinpoint your ideal customer – the ones with the most pain your product solves. Go directly to communities, forums, or specific groups where they discuss these problems. Offer a solid solution, maybe a limited-time free access or a great deal to your first few. Gather feedback quickly and iterate. Nothing beats word of mouth from a genuinely happy user. Direct business outreach, showing them exactly how you ease their burden, can also be powerful to land those first paying clients.

1: directories, reddit, discord, email outreach
2: similar to above. do campaigns in different manners fitted to the platforms
3: build a network or list of clients before you finish everything, but the honest truth is imo shortcuts are a mirage

Great post! I’d suggest focusing on micro-communities (like niche Discords or Reddit subs) — early adopters hang out there. Also, share useful automations or templates for free first; it builds trust fast.
