How Do You Drive Traffic To A News Website?

Hi,
hope you're all doing well today.

I believe this section is closest to ppropriate for this question as I couldn't fine a perfect one.

Let's say you have news website (political news) that targets a specific country say the USA. How would you send traffic or increase the traffic, without SEOor anything search engine in the picture?

I have intension of trying out news website butam kind of blank on how to get traffic for my target country.
I know I could run ads and all, I want something that would cost as little money as possible, if possible cost me nothing directly.
I need your help,

Thank you for your suggestion, asides groups and what do you think is the number of members in a group before a group would be worth it?

USA was just an example, if getting USA traffic would be easier then it'll try it. Thank you very much for the suggestion
 
Not an expert on that topic, but I think you just need to test those groups to see which are working. Maybe something like minimum 2k members is good.

Let's say I've gotten a controversial and clickbait(kind of) topic, how do I send initial traffic to it before it gets reshared.

You know a controversial topic won't generate traffic on it's unless it's been seen by a couple of people who would then, show interest.

Hi, of course through social media (Facebook prominently) + Reddit is great for such topics.
 
Social Media is one of the effective ways for increasing the traffic of news websites, Join some active groups and always share an interesting news to get more visitors.
 
you can place a post on site with google news approved.
 
I prefer social media to drive more traffic from the targeted country.
*Google plus is mandatory.:)
 
I Recommend Social media advertising and Videos sharing.
 
Since you are asking for without SEO here are some methods:
1) Paid advertising.
2) Buying traffic.
3) Posting on social media like Facebook groups and pages.
 
Advertise it, but if thats not the case - Reddit, as mentioned above, is a great source of traffic
 
I' m getting a decent amount of traffic from reddit. Facebook groups also...but target town groups for example "chicago groups"
