Quick story for you, my friend. I was 16 years old, in highschool, and I was fascinated with making money online. I had been already making a few hundred $$ a month, which was way more than most of my friends were making at their grocery store jobs, and I was really happy. My mother was a ballbuster. She said the same things - you need to go to college soon, get a real job, and work your way to the top. "you're too smart to be wasting your time on internet scams" she told me.
Well, one night I designed a viral facebook app, and shared it to my profile. It was linked to a content blocker from CPALead. Within a few hours, I check it and I'm at 5,000 fans. Next morning I'm at 100,000. Every time I refreshed it, I had a few thousand more. I log onto CPALead and I nearly shit myself. I made almost a thousand dollars over night. So I just let kept refreshing. Within 3 days, I had 3,000,000 verified people who had installed my app, and I had made $28,000. My mom told me it was bullshit. CPALead sent me a paper check in the mail and we opened up a bank with it. I deposited the check. She said "it will never clear", and guess what, it cleared.
I had made what she makes in 6 months in 3 days. From that day forward I knew IM was my passion and it was what I wanted to do with my life.
Don't ever let the doubters stop you from pursing your dreams. Haters will hate. You're doing this for you, not them.
