How do you deal with self-doubt when no one gets your path?

Hey everyone,

New here on Blackhatworld, but I already feel like this is the right place for me.

A Little About Me:​


I’m 20, moved abroad two years ago as an expat, and I’ve always had side projects—some for business, some just because I enjoy building things.

Not too long ago, one of my projects got noticed by my employer, and they basically gave me an ultimatum: shut it down or quit. I walked away without hesitation. Legally, their demand was complete BS (I never used company resources or worked on my own stuff during work hours), but I just wasn’t interested in playing by their rules. I wanted freedom.

Where I’m At Now:​


In the last three months, I’ve built a B2B subscription business charging $400/month per client. Right now, I have 4 clients ($1,600 MRR). On top of that, I work part-time at a kiosk (not glamorous, but steady) and bring in around $2,500/month. After taxes, I’m sitting at about $3,600/month.

So technically, I’m making more than before, and I have way more control over my time. But here’s the kicker:

The Struggle:​

Despite all of this, I feel like a failure. I wake up with that thought, I go to sleep with that thought. And I know how dangerous that kind of mindset can be—it’s the kind of thing that can turn into failure if I let it spiral.

A big part of it? No one around me understands what I’m doing.
  • My family doesn’t get it.
  • I can’t explain my business in two words.
  • I live in a place where success = 30 years in the same company, not building something on your own terms.

The Goal:​

I want to hit $10K/month within the next 9 months.

What I Need Help With:​

  • How do you deal with self-doubt when no one around you understands your path?
  • What helped you stay focused when you were grinding but felt like an imposter?
  • Any mindset hacks that helped you push past fear?

Would really appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through this.

It seems like you're letting other people's ideas of success effect you. You said it yourself, you want freedom. Working for the same company for 30 years is fine for some people but I think 90% of the people on BHW feel the same as you.

What could help is creating your own circle of marketers from BHW that are on a similar journey to you, this will make you feel like less of an anomaly.

You're taking a unique and different path in life that a lot of people would be afraid to take. Don't let their fear stop you from getting where you want to get in life

You're posting obstacles that don't exist.
Reality says that you're doing great and on your way to success. What else is needed to be understood?

Your problem is the same as many very young entrepreneurs, you underestimate the wisdom of age, 10 years from now you'll remember this struggle and you'll laugh, you're doing good for yourself, keep doing what you love, the moment you put Freedom over money meant you've already won. Good luck.

I would say surround yourself with people doing the things you want to do. A "support system" of people that can encourage you and can relate to how you want to create your own financial independence. I would say avoid talking about what your "dreams" are around people that don't see your vision and goals. They will just put doubts and hurdles in your mind. We all have negative inner conversations with ourselves, but the way to get past that is having reasons to keep you in the game and get back focused. For instance, (1) I want to be successful just to prove all my naysayers wrong. (2) I want to work my own business and be self reliant (3) I want to grow my income so I can invest in people like yourself
 
Do not worry. Many normal people do not understand what we internet marketing guys are doing. A normal person thinks we are all doing some kind of "data entry".
So, just do not bother about normal people. We stand out, we are outstanding, we are a different class. So, do not bother about if anyone does not understand what you are doing.
Just stay focused and keep trying things and what works, scale it up, make money till it is working. Rinse and repeat.
 
to me you are doing really good, you are learning and getting more money working hard, about what you do most people won't understand because they don't know how that work, depending the country being a doctor, architect, lawyer means respect, but if you are none of those and still get a lot of money people look at you suspicious, my point is that you don't teach and old dog new tricks and people that don't understand your life style or never lived it or try to understand they will always see you with serious and desapointed luck, my point is as long as you work get money and you feel good you are good.

Why? Why do you feel like a failure? What happens if you hit 10k? Will it be enough because you may find that you will desire an even bigger number and feel like a failure all over again. Do not let money determine your worth. Just work towards your goals and take time to appreciate every milestone however small.
