How do you deal with burn out?

"mental illnesses" are either an excuse for not accepting the reality of our meaningless lives or not being smart enough to understand the reality.
Philosophically you're not wrong. But is it good, actionable advice? If someone's suffering from XYZ problem, the best way to advise them is probably not "eh, life's meaningless anyway, why bother"
As an atheist, I think God could be the ultimate distraction because it's gives an uber meaning to your life, not just a distraction made by yourself to feel better.
So you'd rather believe in distractions made by random people thousands of years ago, instead of roll your own? That's weak, dude. A real alpha man would make his own distractions :)

Mental illness (or weakness as you call it) shouldn't be funny or a thing to joke about, the OP reached out to the community for help and you find that a good thing to troll about, it's something any therapist would raise his(you do not like female professionals?) eyebrows. So many threads where to troll but you chose this one. hmmm

Yes. Even though I admit I didn't even troll, I tried but failed horrible by not writing a single untrue thing.

That's actually not the point I made. The "mental illness" is just not understanding the real issue and preventing people from doing the right things -> ie. drinking hard alcohol daily because reality is not treatable!

People don't have "mental illnesses" because of "burnouts", it's all made up non-sense. I read daily about those "burnout" people and they all talk about the the main symptom, "meaningless work", "meaningless life", but fail to understand that this is not treatable and a distraction from facing reality and then finding a distraction for it :D.

Yes and No.

You get spring cold and a runny nose because you went outside and/or sat under AC in your office. There is event that triggers the end result.

Burnout is the result of a bad work environment/state. As you said, yes.

Depression is the result of burnout and not having a way out of it.

So we get mental illness because of burnout quite easily if the environment that causes burnout isn't changed soon enough.

People very often are trapped in their day-to-day lives, they can't change things easily. We can't just stop doing work with computers if that's all that we have done for the last 20 years. I've been trying to find a way out, by doing offline things.

But Im still forced to work with PC and I hate it.

I simply hate working with computer and I cant get out of it, I cant magically become like your father and start my own farm and have 10 people working under me.

All I can do is now go out plow some snow for hours in my yard/street and enjoy some backpain with hot coffee. but after that I need to go sit behind screen again.

And I hate it.

And there is no other option for me because there are people who depend on me.

I have a plan to exit this, it keeps me going. But its not as easy as I would like it to be.

No, it's an result of not accepting the untreatable reality of meaninglessness and then finding a distraction for it. Instead, people go to "therapists" and trying to find a solution for a problem that doesn't even really exists, just for denying the fact of reality.

I know what people mean by saying depression. I lost $100k in the first huge bitcoin crash (end of 2018 and it was all the money I had) and couldn't move out of bed for two months. It was just "too difficult". Then I realized that the pain and suffering because of money [insert anything] is absolutely retarded because it has no meaning anyway and is a distraction from facing the reality of life!

The issue is not that people are stuck in a meaningless job or whatever. They just fail to realize that the life itself is the issue and it is not fixable, but they try to replace it with other stuff or long holidays or whatever but they will soon find themselves in the same situation because they fail to acknowledge that this is just part of life. Our society made them believe that this is something that can be fixed, but it can't.

Maybe you should stop trying to become a business owner in 2023 and learn how to get a job where you can be lazy.

The problem with real burnout is that it's incredibly hard to pick that hobby or out-of-work activity because you are under constant stress that you are underdelivering, and failing and people have expectations of you. You start to question your intelligence, and your abilities and instead of taking time off, you focus even more on work by stopping doing anything else. Because you need to hit those targets, you need to earn that money/status/position/whatever it is. Then it becomes a loop where then you start to fail even more because of overload and not having ability to clearly think and the stress and burnout increase. it can happen within blue/white collar works of course, there simply is statistics that mental work is more draining in this matter.
This hit the nail on the head. Appreciate the words from you, I followed your journeys and grateful to have some insight from yourself, from someone with your experience.

Had my iron and testosterone done 8 months ago but was all normal, should do it again in more detail. Yeah living in England at the moment I probably don't get enough vitamin D either. @noellarkin appreciate all the words and checked out your post from before, learnt a bit from that too. I think I will start to break down my tasks more.

Last few days I haven't been on my PC much at all. I really think I need to get my diet straight first along with 8 hours of sleep and spending time outside.

Damn, you sound like an Andrew Tate wannabe. You know you can get burnt out from a lazy job too?
