How do you check other website keywords?

Is there a way to check out a websites keywords? Or is this totally against the rules?

Yes SEMrush is good for seeing what your competitors rank for, also you can use ahrefs or majestic seo and see what keywords your competitors are actively building links too aswell...
 
keywordspy is worth a shot, or spyfu. they offer free online but with very restricted use
 
Are there any that don't cost me an arm and a leg?
 
Check "Alexa" & " who is " to get more information over it.
 
Google has a tool for this. But it sucks compared to SEMrush (which isn't perfect either) =)

Log in to adwords, go to keyword planner, select "Search for new keyword and ad group ideas" and fill in the "Your landing page" field with the website you want to check.
