I’m researching how platforms like vidcore.io work and how to build something similar: video hosting + player + CDN + advertising for publishers.

Main questions:

• How do they monetize views? Which ad networks/SSPs?
• Do they host videos themselves? What about storage, transcoding and CDN?
• What servers/CDN are commonly used at scale?
• Rough cost vs revenue per 1M views?
• How does revenue sharing with publishers work?

Looking for anyone with real experience in this business and actual numbers.

the core is usually a player + ad server/ssp demand + your own storage/transcoding + cdn, rather than one magic ad network. google ad manager supports standard vast/ima workflows, while cdn delivery can be separated from ad serving

I’m also interested in this. From what I’ve seen, CDN and transcoding are major costs, while ad revenue depends heavily on GEO and traffic quality. Real-world numbers would be really useful.
