Let's be honest. I'm not that good at SEO. :)

I'm a graphic designer that makes ads for people who are too lazy / busy / uncreative to handle them on their own.

There is a person who is #1 on Google Searches for Craigslist Ad Design.

Her URL = craigslistaddesign

I run a similar business at a much cheaper rate and have dozens of small business owners calling me every week.

My URL = craigslist25

So .... the question is: How can I bump her without spending hundreds of bucks? If you can direct me to some tried and tested ways for ME to do the work myself, I'll get started right away.

It's a low competition keyword and I'd like to dominate the first few spots of Google, if possible. ((Can that be done with multiple sites that offer the same service -- all of which are run by me?))

The keywords are:

Craigslist Advertising
Craigslist Ad Design

Any help you can offer me would be fantastic.

Aim for the first keyword. She has an EMD for the second, and is ranking first. You'll find it hard to beat her.

About 20 minutes ago I spotted a Fivver Gig, he is a new guy and he claims he can get you first page listing on Google in 5 days.
So I have just bought his gig, and I will know in 5 days how good he is but for $5 it seems worth testing him.
I url and 1 Keyword is all he needs, fingers crossed

Research the backlinks, backlinks quality of your competitor and try to outsmart that with superior SEO techniques than your competitor basically.

EDIT: Lack of sleep. My bad.

If you want to make money get used to spending it... The good old saying, it takes money to make money. Once you save up hire an seo pro.

I've done a lot of research on this, and I've documented the steps here: SEARCH

While I appreciate the humor and your attempt to poke fun at me, I have been searching this forum for an answer for quite some time.

Fact is, as an SEO newbie there is a HUGE amount of information on this site and not a very good guide about how to actually choose what will best benefit someone in order.

I have money to invest into the business. I have time to invest into the manual SEO work that might need to be done. What I need is some sort of a resource guide on putting the puzzle pieces together and educating myself on moving forward.

Thank you in advance to the others that have offered suggestions.

you just dont using the search engine.BE RESPECTFUL that you have that amount of information here otherwise you will be running google search (censored etc...)
I will give you a hint tho, search for CASE STUDIES previously done in many projects.
Hope you will take my word as an advice and you will be working on it

I'm certain you took what I said incorrectly.

PRO: This site has a huge amount of information.

CON: For a beginner, I couldn't find a guide to help me figure out which of the systems presented here I should concentrate on first to get started.

I have put thousands of man hours into the various businesses that I've run in the last decade. The issue is, I try to educate myself about the recommended 'best practices' for whatever it is I'm researching and due to the amount of good information, it's hard to siphon through it all.

That's all. Relax. :)

Still my answer is the same. You aint searching..You just completely ignored me and you didnt each search the forums!
SEARCH CASES STUDIES OF PEOPLE HOW THEY STARTED A PROJECT OF BACKLINKING...
find out if they succeed or not and copy and twist it..
simple as that
wtf did you expect? someone to be your personal backlinking trainer?

Tooley, ignore the negative comments.

As a relative newbie to BHW, I undertand how massive and daunting it can be to learn where to start from.

Here are the basics you want to do:
1) Get traffic travis or go to majesticseo.com - find out how many backlinks the site has
2) seo optimize your landing page for your keyword and run an analysis with traffic travis to see where the flaws are
3) use fiverr to buy gigs to start building your backlinks
tip: if becareful buying scrapebox blasts directly to your homepage. i did that to a site and was sandboxed super duper hard... you dont want to lose traffic to your site IMHO.
4) watch your ranks rise

Hello, I haven't posted much; been busy working and testing. Purple SEO is right. Do Not Buy Gigs and super blast your site. I did these to two sites and anytime you blast a site with a lot of links all at once bad things happen. Yes, I know other people say links don't hurt, but here's my take; if you have an old established site this is likely true; however somewhat new site then I think other wise; I'm going to put my money where my mouth is and offer my help for free and document here as a case study. PM Me.

You're basically asking everyone how do I go from Step #1 of SEO through Step #94.

It's a learning process and you A) spend the money to have someone else do it or B) start reading through lots of threads and websites like all the other SEO people have done.

What you ask for could take pages and pages of content to fully explain to a noobie.

Start off with the basics:

1) Keyword Research and Competition
2) On-Site Optimization
3) Off-Site Optimization

Study those things first to get an understanding of how SEO works.

First, do not reveal your niche or website on BHW otherwise you create even more competition for yourself especially given many here and skilled at SEO so dont give people ideas about niche and keywords they can rank for.

Second, go register craigslistaddesign.org while it is still available and transfer over your content.

Finally go signup for some link pushes and do link pushes to your main sit e and inner page, order some social bookmarks and EDU profile links and you should be no.1 in no time as both keywords are 'relatively easy' according to traffic Travis.

Also you do not need the top few spots and no.1 should be good enough as craiglist ad design gets 170 searches a month so not enough to need more than just no.1 spot.

Thanks, all. I really do appreciate constructive comments.
I'm not really looking for hand holding -- I just want to educate myself in some sort of systematic fashion that makes sense. Your comments are appreciated.

there was someone on this forum sharing a quite good SEO course with tons and hours of video a week a go or something.. try searching for that
