How do I stay completely untrackable?

lol that wont keep you remotely safe

even by using tor you can be found out

need to go next level.... think outside the box

most important thing is to keep everything sensitive on a usb and ecrypt with truecrypt on a secret partition which is encrypted fully and has a password of the same length (and not be in the uk where this would get u put in jail lol)

then you can go from place to place with your usb

go buy perfect-privacy, then buy a sim card (prepaid with internet) and a umts stick.

you are done being 100% anonym in the internets.

im making my rounds to similar threads.. things mentioned here are good starts, but fbi is using security cameras to compare photos with facebook and dmv databases using facial recognition.

question is how to get the prepaids without doing it publicly.

nothing is foolproof, but this is probably as close as it gets AFAIK:
http://www.torproject.org/

This is the only way to truly stay anonymous without buying a new laptop. It bounces your connection around the world, making it completely untraceable (Unless someone spends a weeks worth of time and effort)

"Unless someone spends a weeks worth of time and effort"? Well it isn't really completely untraceable then is it.

Granted, for most things people do, the fact it's a pita to trace is good enough, but that isn't the same thing as being completely untraceable.

Thankfully I don't do anything that would require an absolute and total anonymity. But if someone were to do the things I listed in my previous post in this thread, along with avoiding any cameras while purchasing prepaid cards, laptop, cell phones, etc. and then combine all that with using something like TOR or even better anonymous proxies then they that would actually be as close as you could get.

With enough time and effort anything done online can be traced back to a source by some agency of law enforcement, so you would have to make sure that when they got to that source nothing in the real world can link it back to you.

Of course I don't think I'd want to ever know someone that was doing anything requiring that complete level of anonymity. lol.

If you think TOR is untraceable for the big boys (FBI, NSA, CIA, etc) you are so wrong. They frickin' developed it. More than that they control all big internet nodes and ISPs.

If you want to cover your tracks completely you should abandon the idea because you will get tracked eventually. You can do it, but the fact you ask how on a forum tells me you will eventually get tracked. Is like those script kiddies who deface a site and are all happy and next day the police is at their door and they wonder how they were found because they covered their tracks.

Generally speaking it is simple though. Do what GreyWolf said, connect using a hacked WiFi hotspot or an internet cafe, etc. To be untraceable you have to leave ZERO traces. For that you have to know what leaves traces and you obviously don't. 3

So, if you plan to do some illegal shit, you will get caught if they have a reason big enough to need to find you.

Also set up paypal account for the fake identity linked to the credit card and bank accounts

How do you do this?? Any more info on setting up fake paypal/bank accs and getting card so that you can cash out

The only way to do this is by using private trackers and anon proxies. Just like move everything offshore and you'll be fine.

Hey greywolf that was great man.

I would suggest it depends what you want to do. If you want to get money out of it then money will always be traced to you somehow. Unless you find someone willing to be a patsy.

If it just for stealth activity then you should be sure to use public wifi access. DOn't use public proxy from your house. Never do anything from your house with that machine.

Peace.

yeah, sorry to break it to you but staying 110% untrackable is almost impossible... :)

While technology exists to stay anonymous, the biggest problem will be yourself... Connect once with the wrong proxy and you are detectable, if you really want to stay highly anonymous, use different internet cafes all the time and also only connect through highly anonymous proxies.

But then again might be that this proxy keeps logs, and if someone really wants to know your real ip they could be able to track it maybe, and once that happens your isp would give out your ip immediately (assuming you did something illegal)

You could also chain proxies etc to give it an extra layer of security, but always know, it's virtually impossible to be 110% undetectable, but it is very well possible to hide your ass pretty good (just not to be invisible :D )

If you need to worry about being untraceable its because you are either doing something highly illegal or just paranoid, maybe both.

Ok.

Do everything what GreyWolf said to unlink you from fake identity plus make it hard for them to trace you.

Do like this: New laptop + vm machine on tru3crypted drive + FF with disabled ja(v)a, no cookies + s1gn up to tr1al offshore VPN + buy prepaid v1sa + pay for another VPN with it.
ONLY AFTER THIS create all your accounts in mail and banks. Now use VPN at all times. VPN (or double or triple) + S0CKS5 + SSH tunneling + chain of proxies if you fancy.

Now we are talking about some anonymity. But there is much more to it.

P.S. Dont tell anyone I told you this. ;)

Actually you can be completelly untraceable. The key is not to be untraceable/invisible but to make the traces go to somebody who isn't you.

In order to do this you will at some point have to break the law :)

Doing what GreyWolf suggested AND using either a hacked WiFi or an internet cafe without security cameras will make you untraceable because the trace ends up with a dead end - in first case the owner of the WiFi AP, in second an internet cafe.

Obviously in this process you have to invent an alternate/made-up identity.

If however you need to be able to get your hands on money for example, things become a lot more complicated because getting the money is a massive risk - it produces a link between your alternate identity and the real identity. That is why the folks who are stealing money online and stuff either do money laundering where they loose a percentage of the money in order to be able to keep the rest, or they use so-called "mules" which are like the pawns on a chess board - expandable. In other words some poor folks who don't know much and are told by the big boss "go to the bank and cash this money and bring it to me".

Generally speaking the folks who make money online from illegal activities are in a way or another connected to organized crime. Because of that pretty much every aspect of covering their tracks is covered at every level.

If you think using proxies, TOR or "private/encripted" networks is safe, you are wrong. As a matter of fact all data traffic (GSM,GPRS,3G,WAN,etc) is being monitored 24/7 by at least the NSA and for most states by the intelligence services of those states - for more details see "spy files" on WikiLeaks (actually read the proposals/presentations). Not only they monitor all traffic but they also have the capacity to decrypt strong encriptions on the fly - the NSA has anounced publily in the past they can crack SSL-128 by bruteforce in 2 seconds flat. Besides that they also made public that any communication with encryption higher than SSL-4096 is automatically flagged.

Things do not stop here. For GSM (at least) it is possible to intercept all communication to and from a certain phone without having access to the carrier (phone company). There are devices the size of a 4U server that can handle up to 64 phone streams at the same time. This is possible because the GSM security can be easily cracked. Even worse, they can listen to a phone even if the phone is not in a call. So if you're in a room discussing secret stuff with some other noob and you have the phone on the table they can hear you and you wouldn't know it. For the smartphones they can even access the webcam and you wouldn't know it.

All this is public information. Imagine the shit they can do that they didn't made public. I remember years ago when CRT monitors were the standard that they had devices which allowed them to see what was on a CRT monitor from a wan in front of the building. The CRT as basically an electron canon and produced a strong magnetic field. This field they picked up from a significant distance (tens of meters) and cleaned up and made it into a clone (distorted though) of the image you had on your monitor. This was years ago.

There are also directional microphones, laser microphones (they point it at a window and hear what is being talked inside because the window wibrates from the sound waves inside the room), etc.

I'm not saying that it is impossible to communicate securely, I am just saying it is extremely hard if you have the NSA after you. Hence you better be at the same level with them to stand a chance.

Happily, I only have to remain undetected by Google lol. A much easier task.

Tor is useless, I agree. It's like one big honeypot for sniffers and agencies.
But there is no way anyone can monitor all data. The idea is absurd. Just imagine how much data is generated each second? It's pure numbers game. Do I really need to point this out? Hmm.

Is this 100 percent correct? Can I see source links? Im not sure you are really serious about all this. No offence.

Read the "spy files" on WikiLeaks (listing). You will see proposals for the Lybian government for systems that can handle 1GBps network streams in real time. 2GBps with secondary addon module. The module is in a 4U case. 8U for both modules. Traffic is MONITORED not stored. That means they store just what is potentially interesting.

I do know as a fact that all ISPs in pretty much all countries maintain ALL web/email/messenger communication for all clients for at least 6 months because it is required by the state. Obviously they do not keep all downloads/torrents/etc.

Yes. I saw it first in a documentary on Discovery years ago. Don't remember the name of the documentary. It was about an NSA supercomputer. Personally I think 4096bit SSL is not so uncommon today so I doubt they auto-flag it these days.

Here are some links you might find interesting though:

Eat your sim card, it's the only way to stop the feds tracking you.
