How do I make money with apps?

I just recently got started with Android app development and I am curious, how do you make money with it? I have in app purchases (with a purpose) not just for the sake of it and I do have ads.
The thing is, it's been up on the Google Play store for about a week and it has 4 downloads, how do you get noticed? Do I just add a bunch of keywords to the description? New to the app scene but I'm very interested in it so any tips are highly appreciated.

You should try media buying. Check the media buying section. After many installs and rates (if positive) your app will be automatically goes up but it takes 1-2 month(s)

You can add Amazon display ads in your app to monetize it as well

Is your app unique in any way, or is it just a clone of something else? If the app just isn't good or unique, you are going to have a very hard time getting downloads. It's still possible, but usually you need some good branding and money to spend on media buys. Do you have social media accounts to advertise and share your app with people?
