I did that once, I went to the barber, handed him a picture of Ringo Starr, and told him to make me look like that....

He took a brush out, spun me around, and broke my nose with it.

Dude, you need definitely a hair straightener if your hair just doesn't get easily to that. It's either to thick or to thin, not sure which was the case for that.

Then as mentioned, try a little bit smooth wax, or a hair spray. Done..

First you have to let your hair grow out. Then you take the pic to the salon and tell the stylist that is how you want it cut. Watch how the stylist dries it. To get that look you need mousse. Don't use gel or hair spray. You need to dry your hair with the blow dryer and use your hands to style. Put the mousse in your hair, lift the hair with your hand, and dry while lifting. It's hard to explain without seeing it in person. Ask your mother/sister/girlfriend to help you. I do my son's hair when he has somewhere special to go. A woman knows how to lift and dry upright using her hands to style.
