My goal is to become an authority in SEO, so I want to write articles and blog content that will produce the following results:

    • Establish me as a local seo authority in my local area and even regionally or nationally.
    • Generate more clients and customers for my business
The main problem I have is figuring out which content will provide me with the best return on my invested time. I want to write articles and blogs that will turn readers into customers. Can someone please point me in the right direction and approach I should take please. Thanks!

My opinion would be to first develop your case studies. Prove you can do what you say you can do and rank 4-5 sites in different industries. It would be best if you can also rank your site for "your city SEO" "your city search engine optimization" or etc.

You would be hard pressed to get a no from any business if you offered to optimize their site, rank them for "x" keyword, improve their Google places ranking, or etc for free to build your credentials. Then as you write your content about a,b,c you have physical examples you have actually done, before and after screen shots (Always carefully document the before), and probably some good testimonials.

As for generating more clients ... I hate to say use the search feature ... but use the search feature :) There are tons of good information on offline lead generation here.

    Good info,
Unfortunately I don't have as much "case study" material as I would like unfortunately. I want to get customers from craigslist mainly so my plan is to write articles and content that relate to the needs people currently have and post in craigslist. I think that will be a good starting point.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    1. Find a local niche with demand(Doctors or something)
    2. Create a website for the niche
    3. Rank it for that term
    4. Contact the local businesses in that niche and offer them the chance to rent it out, with a free one month trial.
    5. If they start getting customers from the website they will be more than happy to pay for it.
    6. You now own the local market
    7. Profit

Target the keywords "your area SEO expert" it's a walk over.
You can dominate 4 pages if you do it right.

That's a good point. I am actually doing this now, and I'm on page one. It was just a beta test to see how difficult it was and I am actually right below the "7 pack", keyword has about 590 local searches with about 5 - 10 organic hits per day. It took about 2 in a half months to get on page 1. For a more competitive keyword it will probably take about 6-9 months, I guess I can do this and work it over time, I just wanted something with a faster result. Good suggestion!

I just read that post and it's an excellent idea! To add to what he's saying there, my thought is to create website review videos, and post them on youtube, this way I can speak directly to a prospect along with any other visitors that have a website in the same niche :)

I did a quick search for a very competitive city "New York SEO Expert" google returned, 1,300 local searches with a "high" competition. For my particular area I get about 1000 results with medium competition. It's a good idea actually! I appreciate it sir!:D

Unless your target clients are reading BHW your time posting your question is better spent testing different ideas.

Your content should be related to the current topics and relevant to the keyword to attract readers.
