How do I create Facebook images with captions like this?

You can just make these with Paint, make a new blank image of whatever size, go to the first image, open it in another window of paint, select the whole image, press CTRL+C and go back to the blank image, then press CTRL+V and adjust the image to any desired position, now go to the second image you want in there, open it in paint, select the part of it which to you want to include in the image or select all of it, go back to the blank image and paste it there and adjust it, now just add text above them and you've got yourself an image which probably wasn't worth the effort.

To be honest, this is very very poor editing but nevertheless good meme. You can simply use some online photo editor to do this type of meme . If you are serious about meme, i suggest you to do some Photoshop tutorial using YT for 5-7 days to become reasonably good to do this sorta meme.

I use an old version of Paint Shop Pro. Version 7. The new versions are overkill and have waaay more options than most people need.
I dont know if FOSI is still around, but he had the best, clean version ever, I still have it. Very easy to figure out.

I would create a javascript using html5's canvas, drop in the images, create a new one with texts written over it.

When you want to do it in bulk, create a php script, drop in a list with all the necessary data, and let the php script spit out lots of memes in a single round.
