How did you quit smoking?

Anything linked with dopamine is quite hard to quit. Earlier you get into reducing how frequent you smoke, better.

Whatever you do, DO NOT VAPE!!! thats just as addictive & when you get rid of the nicotine, your so hooked, you get the vape juice with 0 nicotine in. i found that nicotine gum really worked well, doesn't taste the best but definitely satisfies the cravings & will keep you off cigarettes.

I've been smoking since I was 18 - 27 (sometimes 2 box's a day)
28 - 29 = vaping (every 10 minutes lol)
30 - now = nicotine toothpick (1 stick last long for 3-4 hrs, well at least it got no 'smoke' & my craving for cigs turn into none)

Replacing the cigarette with vaping / nicotine gums / nicotine toothpicks are actually working when yours is a "cigarette ritual" habit. It will make you quit cigarettes, but what about your substance addiction?

Mine is definitely nicotine addiction. I am addicted to the substance. Because I hate smoking, wasting time on top of that. Really. I never finish my cigarette and throw it away because I rush back to work.

I am unsure if I should try replacing cigarettes with other nicotine products: this would only change the "source" of how I feed my addiction.

Smoking is such a deep, controversial argument to debate. People smoke for different reasons, and quit for others. We're all so different...

Probably we're not smart enough to understand the human mind / dominate it.

I'm amazed to see how many people have been able to quit. Proud of you guys :)

First few times I quit up to 3 months, on my own. (few like 3-4 times total)

After all that time, I realized this won't go easy at all.

Next time I made a peak of 7 months. Nothing happened, just realized: here we go again, back!

Next 2 times I knew there is no success in this journey if I go by myself. I became mature a bit, 25+ should be years when religion start coming to your mind.

Somewhere at age of 26-27 I pray to my God, and his name is Jesus, to help me as I was very aware that another FALL will come. No matter what I do (this is my case only)

Together, with God, I started another battle, and I failed more 2 times, had 2 new peaks of 8 and 9 months. But I still knew I can make it!

Today I am Free for 1 year 8 months, and I hate smoke, and I still pray to Jesus to keep me out of it, because you can always fall back into it.

You can basically stop smoking in 5 days period, but the issue is not into quitting. Spiritual world is suggestion world, and devil is ready with numerous tactics. (he just help you decide, not forcing you at all, that's the beauty, you done it all yourself and nobody else is guilty)

A lot of em can be applied on you, so he can play with you however he wants. Let you feel safe, strong, crush you like a flower, you have to pray and show to God that you are ready to stop even if you're not!

Started when I smoked a bit of marijuana form time to time. Quit marijuana but the nicotine addiction stayed. There were always people coming and going from my country , friends from time to time but mostly for business purposes who always gifted duty free cigs. Because of the piles of cigs, sleeve upon sleeve, I literally had cigs on tap without spending a single penny on them. That was for well over a year. Naturally I got a little carried away. When I began to run out at turn of the year, I vowed I would not spend a single penny on a cigarette from the stores when I ran out and I followed through - went cold turkey and am damn proud of myself for it!
It will probably be hell for about a week at which point your body will probably adjust and act like it never happened lol.

Think carefully about something that's more important to you than smoking and keep it in mind every time you get a craving. The most important rule being that there's no such thing as one last. You'll probably never stop with that attitude. Put your foot down and just stop when you're ready.

Think of all the rewards too. You''ll smell better, save a ton of time. And other stuff. Any sleeves I get after lock-down i'll just sell for a little extra pocket money, just as an extra perk, personally. Think of your own.

I believe I can help you.

Tldr: Your REASON to quit should be stronger than your REASON to continue.

A friend pointed it out to me that smoking is actually forbidden in Islam (There is difference of opinion though) and since I've always taken religion seriously, I had a choice to make. It wasn't easy and I quit-restarted 3 times before eventually giving up.

Your reason could be your health or family. Anything! Lots of people give it up when they find out that they have developed a cancer because continuing would be hazardous and that becomes a strong reason to quit.

My personal advice: Find your REASON to quit

I quit cold turkey. Drink sparkling water when you get the urge to smoke, it will stimulate your throat just like cigs. Although, you'll piss a lot.

Have you tried any books? Thats a big part of the reason that I stopped.

I guess with the price of cigarettes going up every year it's cheaper to roll a good paperback.

I`m smoking 16 years, 3 years back I started e cig.

Bro start meditation or yogaoyoga every morning
Focus on your work work work
Every day try to smoke less than the previous day

Most important start meditation or yoga on daily basis

Back when I used to smoke many years ago, I quit by simply deciding I wanted to, so one day I just stopped and never smoked again, but here is the thing, I really wanted to quit, yes I had urges but I stuck with my decision because I was firm in my mind that I never wanted to touch a cigarette ever again. I combined that with workout and running and never looked back, this helped a lot because you really feel foolish working your a** off trying to improve your cardiovascular resistance and then lighting a cigarette, so for me the key was to be 100% certain and committed to the idea of quitting and to complement that idea with exercise.
