How did you learn English?

Watch some TV series with subs (something mainstream, maybe “Friends”?). Helps a lot. Improves your listening and reading skills.

How when you don't know the language? By translating every word and then remember it?
It's not like i don't understand at all, But just by watching and look at the person's behaviour and action on the video. You will gradually learn what the words meant. For an example , If you don't understand what " thank you " mean but you watch other people say " thank you " and they express gratitude towards the person, then you will know what " thank you " means. I hope it makes sense lol.

The answer to this question needs to be divided into two parts:
1. How to understand English
2. How to speak English

Understanding English is a lot simpler than speaking it, and most people learned it by watching TV or reading things online (school, etc...). Speaking English is a matter of practicing it. Talk to people.

I am as far as one can be from being a native speaker (or a native level speaker), and it shows. But I am understandable.
If I had to learn English today, I'd probably start from starting to think in English while I talk, because I translate sentences in my head before saying to writing them, and it usually not as good as it could've been if I could assemble the sentences in English to begin with. Both in terms of efficiency and in terms of grammar.

I learned English by playing video game and chatting online. Really though, you can learn quickly when you have someone to talk to you in English.

Just talk to someone every day in English. You would be surprised how fast you can pick it up that way.
