How cream scammed me for free work and $180

He needed SEO work done for him, we got together, I came up with a proposal, he liked it and we agreed on a price of $270. Less than a week into the work I had already received over a hundred messages from him asking for updates. I took a 4 day vacation in which he claims I was gone for two weeks. After about 3 weeks into something that was going to take at least 6 he requested a refund. We worked out that I would pay him back $180 (since I had done a substantial amount of content creation and promotion). I informed him I would not have it for a few weeks. Within those weeks he sent several hundred more messages forcing me to block him on gtalk, although I always reassured him he would get his money (he was in desperate need of it since he just lost his job or something like that, which is also the reason he requested the refund in the first place.) He started a shitlist thread here bad mouthing me and my company, which was removed I think within 24 hours or maybe 48 or something like that. I refunded him the $180 agreed upon but he also reversed the original paypal transaction of $270 (by the way the price of $270 was dependent on him filling out my companies marketing questionnaire which he never did. I quoted him @ $300 and offered him a 10% discount to do this). I told him I was gonna forward his account to my attorney but we realized it would be more to take him to court then we would win. This guy is a real piece of work and should be avoided at all cost. I know your not supposed to sell outside of BST but IDK how I ever even met this guy (I think it was on freelancer.com but I'm not sure. The only reason I know his BHW user id is because somehow he found out mine and used it to post the aforementioned shitlist thread.) I know I don't have a squeaky clean record here but I'm always honest with my dealings and would hate to see any fellow members get scammed by this guy the way I did. well seems to me - you didn't let the guy know the timeframe before he would see the results

I only say this because you said after 3 weeks he wanted his money back - and most people know that Seo and rankings are definately going to take longer than 3 weeks.

so best thing to do is send the guy back his money and next time make sure the client understands from the beginning what to expect -- so that then you have something to refer back to.

business just sucks some times when you deal over the internet.

yeh thats gotta suck a little - u kept your end of the bargain
and sent the 180 he asked for
then he filed for a full refund on the 270 as well.

Did you send him the $180 over paypal? If so can't you just do a chargeback?

Can't do a chargeback on the original since he already did a reversal and I can't do it on the $180 because I stupidly sent it as seller protected (I was trying to save him the fee's of PP, even though he didn't have the courtesy to do the same for me, stupid ass decision to make in business but luckily I at least learn from my mistakes). I may try calling my bank but since it came from a military banking institution IDK if I want to go through all that with them. I'll definitely hit up BigBuddy since he was the one to inform me of when this guy shitlisted me. Thanks everybody that has taken to the time try and help me out.

He should respond. Has he got any knowledge that this thread exists? I think he hasn't.

Myself and BigBuddy have both PM'ed him about this matter and he has done nothing to reply thus far. What do you think BHW community?
