How can I stop smoking???

Have you Pax by Ploom? the difference between Ecigarette and the Pax is like difference between doing a shot of cheap tequila and sipping a really great one.

read the great review of the device here : http://goo.gl/1c29U9

I know this is gonna sound a little sarcastic but i mean it with good intent.

Just stop smoking, you started smoking threw repetition so you can only stop smoking threw repetition, normally repetition build habits you have a smoking habit so u have to do everything in reverse the same way u started smoking is the same way you stop....just stop, once u build repetition not smoking you will never smoke again.

The best way to stop smoking is this: Quit being a little bitch and stop smoking.

Honestly, you have full control over yourself and your actions. Anyone who tells you otherwise is false.

I know several people all very heavy smokers who have used champix and never smoked again.

Lol at the people saying Just do it. This ain't Nike... Cigarettes are a DRUG. Like herion, crack, meth. It is nothing but a legal controlled substance. How many of those addicts wish they could ''stop being a bitch and quit''. Some people have the addiction characteristic and some don't.

No sure fire way to quit, just continue to try anything you think might help. The important thing is to keep trying, because it is a horrible habit.

Funny...I'm asking myself the same question regarding drinking!
But I can tell you that I quit smoking about 23 years ago by using nicotine patches. They were prescription only at that time but I guess now you can buy them anywhere. If you really want to quit, they will help big time.

congrats! 23 years impressive

Well, LSD has been shown to have very beneficial effects on reforming addicts...
@loclhero: there's some interesting research that AA supported before LSD became a rampant recreational drug (I'm mostly kidding. The research did happen, there was an unprecedented amount of success, but flashbacks are srs business. If you find a way let me know.)

But seriously, assuming you don't want to get arrested, I'd go with a low dose of patches or cold turkey. I think you have to break the oral fixation (no ecigs) along with the nicotine addiction (not based on anything but the subjective). Not necessarily in one go, obviously, but eventually. Quit hanging out with people when they're smoking (ask them not to smoke around you, tell them you're quitting and it's agitating), and change your routine to avoid places where you have smoked in the past.

Imo a lot of the addiction is actually from emotional and/or stressful triggers that are much harder to deal with when you're trying to quit, since you have been using a kind of stress blocker for a really long time. It's way easier to handle adverse emotions and stress when you've got nicotine in your system. So you're going to have to find a new way to deal with stress. Probably not going to be easy, plenty of non-smokers still have problems with this, but pick something you enjoy that will help you relax and find your mental balance.

Oh, also, you're going to think about it. A lot. Don't give the thoughts weight by forcing them away, just take note of them and let them get forgotten normally. Eventually you'll notice a slow decrease in your thoughts about it. If you relapse don't sweat it. It's pretty normal to make mistakes, just learn from them. Why did you need a cigarette, how could you have handled the situation better, and make a plan to make sure this doesn't happen again.

TL;DR

Do what you have to to get through the cravings (patch, gum, rampant masturbation, whatever), but change your behavior and your thought processes. Working on one will affect the other. Most of all find a way to manage your stress.

I stopped smoking 4 years ago. Its all in the MIND if you want to quit. What you need to do is for about 2 to 3 weeks get your mindset saying i dont want to smoke anymore and i will quit no matter what. every single day as much as you can keep saying in your head i will quit smoking. After a couple weeks of saying this you will have a 85% better chance of quitting. wake up one day and stop. then fo the first week start going for jogs to get your lungs all cleaned out

Suicide is one of the best way to quite smoking. One of my friend did that and you know what he never smoked again. :-(

Stop Smoking start with one hour and add it.

if you want to quit you can.
To be honest, motivation is a giant factor. Chew some gum, and get rid of all your cigarettes. Even consider asking you friend to hide your car battery or something, if the place where you buy your cigarettes is not in walking distance. However, I am not the best person to come to advice for; because I have never needed to stop smoking.

http://www.quit4good.com pls check this website it help me and no its not my site just helping

This is my biggest problem - I wanna stop smoking but I just can't!! I will try vaping next month, see if it will help.

if someone truly wants to stop they will stop. like greengoblin said, just simply quit.

Method 1:
- Start by smoking 1 less cigarette per day, as you decrease you can substitute a cigarette with an e-cig if you really have the urge to smoke, limit to a few puffs per 15 minutes.

Method 2:
- Time distance between your cigarettes, force yourself not to have an actual cigarette more than once per 2 hours. Depending on how much you smoke you may need to start with only 1 per hour until you can lower your nicotine tolerance.

Method 3:
- Self torture. Read 1 article per day on the effects of smoking and Google search 1 image per day of someone who has lung cancer or something like that. Eventually this will probably promote fear and cause you to become repulsed by cigarettes. | WARNING: You should consult a doctor/psychiatrist first as this could potentially cause mental harm/actual trauma.

Method 3b:
- Self torture: Perhaps give yourself a light pinch on the arm every time before you grab a cigarette. The idea here is to pair the action of smoking with a negative stimuli so eventually you'll get sick of pinching yourself and hopefully lower the quantity of cigarettes and maybe quit smoking as well. The more unpleasant you make the situation of smoking the less likely you are to pursue it.

Method 4: Go for a 15 minute walk every time you want a cigarette. Only bring 1 cigarette with you and leave the pack at home. Don't take any cash or credit cards with you if you live within walking distance of a store you can get cigarettes from.

Method 5: Force yourself to do a 1-3 sets of 12 Reps of heavy weights (dumbells) before you have a cigarette. The idea here is to making smoking a chore that you don't want to do, also improves your health at the same time.

Method 6: Put your cigarettes in a different place every time after smoking. This way you constantly forget where you put them and it will take longer to get at the cigarettes. Because this will quickly annoy you not having quick and easy access the number of times you'll want to smoke ideally will decrease due to the frustration caused.

My Logic: Because smoking is usually scene as a pleasant activity you will see in the methods above I attempt to provide ways of breaking the brains reward system by putting a punishing system in place. The concept being that the tasks will become so annoying and unpleasant smoking will no longer be enjoyable for you and thus you will be encouraged to quit.

Do this. Give your cigarets to someone to hold for you. When you want one, ask them for it. When you ask for it, they look at their watch and note the time. In order to actually get another cigarette, you must ask a second time in 9 to 11 minutes (decide on a few minutes for the "window").

If you ask the second time in the "window", you get a cigarette, if you ask early or late, the timer starts over.

This process keeps putting off the cigarette when the urge to smoke hits. By putting it off, you may become distracted, or busy, and not need the cigarette at all, reducing the daily intake.

By not hitting the window, you increase the time between cigarettes as well.

I did this with a welder I used to work with and she quit in 5 weeks.

Who ever holds the cigarettes needs to be the least approachable, most ruthless, heartless person you know. Someone who will not give into begging or threats.

And use a patch, I hear the dreams are wild.

You can ask your doctor for a prescription of Chantix. It is the only thing that worked for me. I got on it once I saw that a friend of mine, a chain-smoker for a good 20 years, stopped after one day of taking Chantix. I took it and after 3 days I had only craved a cigarette probably one time. Downside? It makes you have super weird dreams.
