You don't need to read any books, the info is all online, short, and always changing anyway. What you need to do is try it out and see what problems you encounter, then look up how to solve them. Pick a topic you know something about, search for a blog that's doing well in that area, and set up your own to act like theirs. There's no single template for everyone to follow.

As I have tried blogging for years I will not recommend blogging to anyone nowadays. There's just too many things to do in order to make your blog successful.
