How are sites with PBN's penalized?

I'm talking about real PBN's, as in completely private and being careful, i.e. completely different google WMT accounts, private registration from different domain registrars and hosted by different hosting companies.

Has anyone done the above and still got caught?

Yes there are tons of threads with people claiming they crossed all their T's and dotted all of their i's.

The problem is if a competitor outs the network, this can be done by submitting complaints to Google directly. I have seen evidence that they do eventually take action and especially if their exposure because the keyword is searched frequently and a lot of competitors in the space.

At the end of the day if you don't make it look like a PBN then you should be fine. Most people aren't willing to put the energy or cost beyond the actual domain to make their PBN shine. That's where the risk exists.
 
Even if all footprints are avoided, most blog networks are obvious when you look at them. You need to set up each site as a real individual site, and be careful about your own browsing habits, in order to avoid detection.

Sometimes we trick ourselves by not using plain old common sense.
 
Google is smart then our imagination, there have many filters to catch sites, We make PBN to get strong links to our sites or for link selling? In both cases we sites can be penalized,

Google need only one signal then its robots can find whole network with automatic process.

Once again, the goal is to create x number of sites that are legit. There is no way that you will be penalized if your site are actually on point.

Likely a ludicrous recommendation but I'd like to hear what he means. If he thinks Google is tracking browsing activity via Chrome to identify PBN's he's been smoking the good stuff for too long.
 
Also I feel that many claim their PBN was "slapped" when it in many cases MAY be the link building they've done to the PBN. People think that just because its a buffer between your site and other links that its OK to spam a PBN to death with crap. This isn't true and you will lose that PBN just as fast as if you did that to any money site.

That's the thing. People are so sloppy and careless. Plus they are so focused and rushed in creating a link to their site, if they saw their site from an outside perspective, they would see how obvious their network was. I was going to make a dummy PBN site just to show people how it should be done. Just to show people it's almost impossible to guess which site I'm trying to promote... but then I said fuck it and would rather just use the site in my network if I go through that much trouble lol.

Google can track if you log into your pbn's admin panel and edit it, through firefox and chrome, also via IP.

My advice is to use TOR (download it if you haven't for some reason) and use that to edit and create your pbns.
 
Yes you can still get caught. It doesn't really matter how good your PBN is, if you get a manual review chances of getting slapped are super high. They deindex your PBN and put a manual penalty on your money site.
 
What happens most of the time in situations like that, people find out a few of your PBN domains, report you and your pbn and money sites are hit.
 
I bet that most of them get caught because competition reports them to Google. It's easy to know what site is made solely for link building purposes, and which one is made for readers. People spend $100 on good domains and more on servers, but they don't want to spend an extra $100 and a couple of hours just to make their PBN sites look legit.

Diversification is the key to everything if you ask me. A site with nothing but PBN links can be easily spot. If you diversify your links, it's a lot harder. If you link to several other sites from your PBN and make them look legit, Google can't ban them all.

How do they track if you logged onto a wordpress admin panel using firefox?

google is smarter than our imagination? dude you are a defeated loser. A person who spends 16 hours a day in front of a computer learning howto make a living will tackle 100 googles in its way. Don't misguide the up and coming entrepreneurs.
